Job description

Two Chairs is building a new kind of mental health system based on the idea that the status quo isn't good enough. Industry-best clinician experiences, better client outcomes, groundbreaking innovation, and access to the highest quality care are how we'll raise the bar for the entire industry. With that, we're excited and honored to have been recognized as a 2025 Great Place to Work and 2025 Fortune's Best Workplaces in Healthcare.

One of our company values is "Embrace Differences" and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are the principles guiding how we build our business and teams. We encourage interested candidates from all backgrounds to apply even if they don't think they meet some expectations of the role.

About the Role

Two Chairs' Clinical Innovation and Research team is excited to offer a 10-week, part-time research internship. This opportunity is ideal for a graduate student looking to gain practical experience seeing how research is conceived, built, and leveraged within a fast-paced behavioral health organization.

As a Research Intern, you will lead a specific, end-to-end research project, using existing clinical data, from initial design and execution through to drafting and submitting a manuscript for peer review. Throughout the engagement, you will be immersed in the behavioral health industry and gain cross-functional exposure through team meetings and cross-team collaborations. The objective of this role is to write and submit one research paper for peer review by the end of the 10-week period.

Core Areas of Responsibility

  • End-to-End Research Project: Design, execute, and analyze a specific research study aligned with our strategic clinical and business goals.
  • Mixed-Methods Research: Apply both quantitative and qualitative methodology to answer complex clinical and organizational research questions.
  • Manuscript preparation and submission: Synthesize project findings and lead the drafting and submission of a manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Attend cross-functional meetings, engage with internal stakeholders, and gain exposure to how clinical research drives business decision-making.

Impact and Success Indicators

Where you'll make an impact during the internship (approx 10 weeks):

  • Successfully design and execute a targeted research initiative.
  • Produce a completed paper submitted for peer review by the end of the 10-week engagement.
  • Share findings and key takeaways across functional teams to help inform care models and organizational strategy.
We're looking for someone with:
  • An ongoing or recently completed a doctoral or master's program in Clinical Psychology or a closely related behavioral health discipline.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in quantitative data analysis and statistical methodology.
  • Qualitative research skills and experience designing, collecting, and analyzing qualitative data (e.g., thematic analysis, interviews).
  • Familiarity with AI tools, an interest in and exposure to AI clinical tools such as note scribes is a plus but not required
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and academic writing skills, with a passion for cross-functional teamwork.
  • An eagerness to learn about industry roles, digital health innovation, and applied clinical research.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The salary range for this full-time, exempt role is $25-30/hour. The final offer is dependent on qualifications and experience.
