Health Information Specialist, Full time, Day Shift, Milwaukee County, WI
Community Care is hiring a Health Information Specialist for our rewarding opportunity to join our Medical Informatics Department who enjoys team enjoys team collaboration, being part of a mission driven organization and who shares our mission to help elderly individuals and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities continue to live as independently as possible in the community. This is a full-time opportunity hybrid at our Milwaukee office.
Health Information Specialist Job Responsibilities:
  • Retrieves and prepares medical record documents, indexes and scans patient documents into the electronic medical record according to department guidelines, ensuring correct patient & electronic chart placement.
  • Uploads electronically received patient documents, reconciles appointments and matches the correct physician order for test or appointment.
  • Performs quality assurance of scanned and uploaded documents to ensure patient records are complete, accurate and timely.
  • Uses critical thinking and problem solving to make corrections and edits according to department guidelines.

Health Information Specialist Job Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Experience: REQUIRED: One year medical records experience utilizing electronic health records required. Also, required are the following: working knowledge of medical terminology; high attention to detail and accuracy with frequent interruptions; ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision. PREFERRED: One year of experience in a health information department or as a health unit coordinator/medical assistant.
Health Information Specialist Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:00AM - 3:30PM
  • Hybrid work schedule
