What does a head of growth do?

A Head of Growth is responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive business growth, typically through a combination of marketing, product, and data analysis. They work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, optimize customer acquisition and retention, and scale successful initiatives. The role often involves experimentation, setting key performance indicators (KPIs), and making data-driven decisions to improve company performance. Their main goal is to accelerate the company's growth in revenue, users, or other critical metrics.

How does the head of growth typically collaborate with marketing, product, and sales teams to drive company objectives?

As a Head of Growth, you'll work closely with marketing to craft and execute acquisition campaigns, with product teams to optimize user experience and retention, and with sales to align lead generation and conversion strategies. Job description

Head of Growth Marketing

Purpose of the Role

The Head of Growth Marketing owns Bright!Tax’s growth engine: lead generation, revenue operations, and brand storytelling that convert awareness into qualified pipeline and qualified pipeline into revenue. This person turns the CEO’s vision into a marketing strategy built on measurable acquisition and conversion outcomes, and holds every campaign, channel, and piece of content to that standard, while ensuring communications reflect Bright!Tax’s brand promise of Kindness, Ease & Expertise and speak authentically to the stories of love, adventure, and freedom that define the Independent World Citizens we serve.

This is a strategic and operational leadership role. Execution is handled by a combination of in-house marketers, agencies and freelancers; the Head of Growth Marketing owns the strategy and directs their work to a high standard. Execution is not the job, the results are.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pipeline & Revenue Generation (Lead Gen / RevOps)

  • Own the full-funnel lead-generation strategy: build, run, and relentlessly optimize every channel (organic, paid, content, SEO, partnerships, referral) that generates marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) and sales-qualified leads (SQLs).
  • Build and maintain revenue-operations infrastructure, including attribution, CRM alignment, and funnel analytics, so every lead’s source, cost, and conversion path is tracked end to end.
  • Own cost per acquisition (CPA) as a first-class metric: set targets, monitor by channel, and reallocate spend toward the channels with the best cost-to-quality ratio.
  • Own SEO as a core, cost-efficient lead-generation channel: drive search rankings, organic visibility, and organic-sourced pipeline, not just overall traffic.
  • Partner closely with sales and client-acquisition teams to keep lead quality, feedback loops, and handoff tight.

2. Strategic Leadership & Storytelling

  • Set the vision and marketing strategy in alignment with Bright!Tax’s overall goals, and translate it into clear, actionable plans with timelines and owners.
  • Shape Bright!Tax’s narrative, the stories of love, adventure, and freedom that connect with Independent World Citizens, and hold that storytelling to the same bar as every other channel: it must drive measurable engagement and conversion, not just brand sentiment.
  • Push the team to adopt AI and emerging technologies that sharpen productivity and campaign performance.

3. Brand & Content Oversight

  • Ensure consistency of Bright!Tax’s brand voice, style, and tone across every channel by guiding, rather than producing, content that is engaging, educational, and supportive.
  • Direct outsourced design and creative vendors to a high standard. This role is not expected to design assets personally.

4. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop marketing team members and external vendor relationships, building a high-performing, accountable culture that raises the bar every quarter.
  • Promote and embody Bright!Tax’s mission and values (Act with Integrity, Be Extremely Kind, Strive for Perfection, Exercise Balance, Have Fun!) in every interaction.

5. Market Insight & Partnerships

  • Study the market landscape and competitive environment to inform strategy.
  • Cultivate relationships with key external partners and pursue collaborations that advance Bright!Tax’s market position and lead flow.

6. Performance, Budget & Reporting

  • Own and report on marketing KPIs on a regular cadence, with hard accountability for cost efficiency, not just volume.
  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring spend is allocated to the highest-return channels.
  • Provide regular, data-backed reporting to leadership on pipeline contribution, CPA trends, and ROI.

The Scorecard: What Success Looks Like

Track Record Required

  • Built and scaled a marketing-generated pipeline, with demonstrable SQL/MQL growth where source and cost were tracked, not just top-of-funnel traffic.
  • Owned CPA/CAC as a metric: can show, with numbers, how they controlled or reduced acquisition cost while growing lead volume, not just top-line growth viewed in isolation.
  • Paid search experience: you’ve scaled a Google Ads campaign and understand the key levers and constraints.
  • Owned SEO as a growth channel: can show organic ranking gains, organic traffic growth, and organic-sourced pipeline, not just general familiarity with SEO tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of evolving AEO best practices and how to implement them
  • Ran revenue operations: attribution modeling, CRM/funnel reporting, and tight alignment with sales on lead quality and handoff.
  • Translated brand and storytelling into converting campaigns: narrative-driven marketing that measurably improved conversion, not just impressions or awareness.
  • Managed budget and vendor relationships, including outsourced creative/design, without needing to be a hands-on designer.
  • Led a team, even a small one, with clear accountability and development plans.
  • Experience and familiarity with using AI to amplify marketing efforts: even if you haven’t used AI in your last role, you use AI tools personally and know how to leverage AI for productivity and efficiency
  • Preferred: experience in professional services, subscription, or another complex-consideration sales environment comparable to Bright!Tax.

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • Web traffic growth YoY
  • AEO visibility metrics, including Owned Content Visibility Score and Share of Voice.
  • Organic traffic share YOY
  • Organic (SEO) traffic growth YoY and organic share of total traffic
  • Keyword ranking growth for priority search terms / organic search visibility
  • SQL growth YoY
  • Cost per acquisition (CPA), tracked by channel and blended, non-negotiable
  • Marketing-sourced revenue / pipeline contribution
  • MQL to SQL to Client conversion rate
  • Annual advertising ROI (where applicable)

Details

  • Location: Fully remote, open to candidates in Americas, European regions
  • Working Hours: Flexible, with a minimum 2 hour overlap with 8:30-5:30 EST
  • Compensation: Per market standards, based on experience & location
  • Reports to: CEO
