The Head Chef will report to the Culinary Manager.
Note: All employees of Cascadia Healthcare are required to submit and be cleared to work in the facility per each state's specific background check requirements prior to contact with patients/residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness
- Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to deliver exceptional culinary creations
- Develop and update menu items in collaboration with the Culinary Manager and culinary team, incorporating seasonal and innovative ingredients
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and help manage food costs to maximize efficiency
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Maintain a positive and productive work environment, fostering teamwork and professional growth
- Assist in plating and preparing dishes during service hours as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Lead Chef, Sous Chef, or similar role in a reputable kitchen
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment
- Ability to cater to special dietary needs, ie: Gluten intolerance and Diabetic needs
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Creativity and passion for developing new dishes and menu concepts
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred

Requirements
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licenses/Certification
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification required.
  • Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations.

Experience
  • Six months' experience in large quantity food preparation. Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred.
  • Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred but not required
  • NOTE: Federal Child Labor Laws do not permit employees younger than 18 years of age to work with or repair, adjust, or clean power-driven machines such as meat slicers and commercial mixers. Therefore, individuals must be at least 18 years of age to be employed in this position.
