SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The Speech-Language Pathology Department at Hardin-Simmons University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured faculty position in the graduate program. The candidate will join a dynamic team of committed professionals interested in advancing the success of SLP students. This position is a 9-month academic year appointment at a faith-based institution which will begin August 2026. Primary job responsibilities include teaching in the graduate program, providing clinical supervision of graduate students, service to the university, community and profession and student recruitment events and alumni engagement. Additionally, a commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide student mentorship and support
Supervise students receiving clinical contacthours in the university clinic
Participate in departmental, university andprofessional service
Engage in appropriate and required facultydevelopment activities that foster achievement of program outcomes
Participate in external and internal recruitmentactivities for the SLP Program
Maintain accurate records and documents and submittimely reports, including but not limited tosyllabi, grades, and office hours
Submit all course grades electronically eachsemester as defined by College of Health Professions and Hardin-SimmonsUniversity
Schedule, announce, post, and maintain sufficientoffice hours to allow students time for formal and informal contact that mayinclude but is not limited to advising, mentoring and remediation
Strive to ensure the highest level of faculty andstudent morale within the school and maintain harmonious, professional collegial, andproductive working relationships among colleagues, both within the school anduniversity at large
Fulfill all classroom, whether face-to-face oronline, and clinical duties essential to the role of faculty, as assigned, bythe Dean/Program Chair
Attend faculty meetings and participate in theprocess of faculty governance within the College of Health Professions
Participate in committees to which you are assignedby attending regularly and fulfilling assigned responsibilities
Participate in curriculum and program development
Utilize evidenced based practice and best practicesin the teaching-learning process
Participate in the preparation for and meetings ofthe Accreditation and Board visits
Know and uphold the policies in the GraduateCatalogs, Graduate Student/Clinical Handbook, and HSU Faculty &Staff Handbook
Perform all other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):

MATHEMATICALSKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms,quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operationsto such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability andvalidity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, andfactor analysis.
REASONINGABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw validconclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technicalinstructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract andconcrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software;Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Calipso; and ClinicNote.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D./Ed.D. in Speech LanguagePathology or a related field preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of clinicalexperience and/or 3 years of supervision is preferred.
Preferably meets the requirements for clinical supervision stated bythe American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
All qualifications must be met bythe time of the appointment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certificate of Clinical Competence inSpeech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from American Speech-Language and HearingAssociation.
Current and unencumbered license or eligibility forlicensure to practice as a licensed SLP or Audiologist in the State of Texas.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Thisposition is a Full-Time, Exempt Level Faculty position with a teaching load atthe Hardin-Simmons University campus. Must be willing to relocate to Abilene,Texas, or the surrounding area to teach in-person classes on the HSU Campus.
A normal 40-hour workweekis required, with infrequent work on evenings or Saturdays.
Musthave an maintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear drivingrecord to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Mustbe able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
