Data Governance Analyst

The Role

The Data Governance Analyst is part of the Enterprise Data Management Center of Excellence, supporting the execution of Data Management and Governance initiatives through partnerships with governance leads across Fidelity. This role blends foundational data governance knowledge with hands-on coordination responsibilities, helping ensure governance workstreams are organized, documented, tracked, and progressing consistently.

In this role, you will support governance adoption and maturity, maintain governance artifacts, assist with reporting and communications, and help coordinate cross-functional activities across data, technology, and business teams. This role offers an opportunity to build foundational enterprise data governance expertise and develop toward expanded roles in data governance leadership, data management, or program delivery.

Data Governance & Execution Expertise
  • Support day-to-day execution of data governance initiatives across domains including data ownership, stewardship, data quality, metadata, and standards
  • Assist in documenting governance policies, standards, procedures, and operating models
  • Partner with data owners, stewards, analysts, and technology teams to capture requirements, decisions, and action items
  • Contribute to consistent execution and follow-through across enterprise data governance efforts.
Governance Alignment & Continuous Improvement
  • Support alignment across governance, data management, and enablement teams to promote consistent practices
  • Assist in socializing governance standards, tools, and best practices across the organization
  • Identify and help drive improvements in documentation, workflows, reporting, and coordination processes
  • Continuously learn and apply enterprise data governance concepts to build foundational expertise.
Reporting, Communications & Coordination
  • Assist in preparing status updates, dashboards, and leadership readouts
  • Synthesize inputs from multiple teams into clear, consistent summaries
  • Maintain visibility into workstream progress to support informed decision-making
  • Support preparation of leadership and steering committee materials
  • Improve visibility and coordination through organized communication, documentation, and reporting.
Technical & Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in data analysis, data governance, project coordination, business operations, or related roles
  • Foundational understanding of data governance concepts such as data ownership, stewardship, data quality, metadata, lineage, and privacy
  • Familiarity with data governance and data management tools (e.g., data catalogs, issue trackers, collaboration tools)
  • Exposure to program or project management practices (Agile familiarity is a plus)
  • Experience supporting forums, councils, or recurring working groups.

The Team

This role is part of the Enterprise Data Management team within the Enterprise Data and AI organization. This role works closely with cross-BU Data Governance teams including leads, stewardship, technology enablement, architecture, and analysts. The team focuses on identifying centralized standards and adopting technology capabilities that, when implemented effectively, add value across the organization and support maturing data governance practices.
