Job description

Event Catering Sales Rep

Handheld Catering is looking for an Event Catering Sales Rep who excels at both the "win" of the sale and the "craft" of event planning. This role is all about owning the client experience – from the first inquiry through the full planning process – serving as the architect of each client’s vision. As the primary point of contact, the Sales Rep identifies opportunities, creates customized event experiences, and oversees all logistical details, while collaborating with the Event Manager on on‑site execution. Ultimately, this person remains the “owner” of the client’s vision and satisfaction from start to finish, ensuring a smooth handoff to the operations team for event-day execution.


We Require:

  • Ability to persuade and influence during the sales phase, balanced with the organizational discipline to manage complex planning details.
  • Deep knowledge of cuisine types, seasonality, and local food trends. You must be an expert in navigating dietary requirements, including allergens, vegan, gluten-free, and pescatarian needs. Ability to design menus across the spectrum, from basic buffet service to high-end, multi-course dining.
  • Requires local travel to sites and a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or evenings as the event calendar dictates.
  • Proficiency in industry-specific tools is essential. You will be expected to utilize:

 

Experience Required: 

  • 2+ years of Catering Sales Required.
  • 2+ years of Event Planning/Coordination Required.
  • Caterease and All Seated.
  • HubSpot and Google Meet.
  • Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to compose professional, persuasive written proposals.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

A blend of office-based planning and site visits. Full-time 8–10 hour shifts, including weekends. In-person.


Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000
