Job Purpose
The Assistant Golf Professional supports the daily operations of the golf shop and related services, ensuring an exceptional experience for all members and guests. Under the direction of management, this role helps foster a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented atmosphere while promoting the game of golf and the club's core standards.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and check in members and guests, process transactions using the Point of Sale (POS) system, and manage tee time reservations in accordance with AGC service standards.
  • Utilize tee sheet demand management and generation strategies such as timely opening, double-tee operations, and pairing of short groups.
  • Maintain the golf shop's appearance by keeping merchandise organized, assisting the Merchandiser with new displays (steaming, tagging, folding, and staging), and ensuring cleanliness throughout the day.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and end-of-day tee sheet reconciliation.
  • Address member and guest service concerns promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership support in the absence of the Golf Shop Supervisor, including training, scheduling, and coaching Golf Shop Assistants as directed by management.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain scheduling flexibility to ensure consistent service coverage in the golf shop.
  • Support and implement all AGC initiatives, programs, and policies as directed by management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Professional accreditation or active enrollment in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math proficiency and experience handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Prior experience in customer service, preferably in a golf or hospitality environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Working Conditions
  • This position requires flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings, based on business and event needs.
  • The role involves standing and walking for extended periods and performing light physical activities such as bending, reaching, and lifting merchandise or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is primarily performed in a golf shop environment, with occasional outdoor duties related to course or tournament support.
  • A neat, professional appearance and adherence to uniform standards are required at all times.
