Summary
The Undergraduate Internship Program with the City of Palm Beach Gardens is designed to provide an on-the-job opportunity to gain "real world" work experience in a career-related professional workforce environment. Our objective is to provide a working and learning environment where college interns can develop the skills and competencies necessary to grow into successful leaders and potential employees. This position will be responsible for performing duties related to the preparation, staging, hosting, and breakdown of all special projects, tournaments, events, programs, and daily golf operations at Sandhill Crane Golf Club and The Nest Par-3 Course.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position is supervised by the General Manager and Head Golf Professionals.

Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participates in and provides support for special projects, programs, and daily golf course operations.
  • Chaperones and provides golf instruction for Juniors (ages 4-17) during golf programs and day camps.
  • Provides superior customer service to our golf course patrons.
  • Functions as an integral part of our team.
  • Provides golf instruction when directed by SCGC Coaching or Management Staff. May be utilized for adult instructional programs, transportation, and other duties as assigned.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned such as data entry, file management, scanning, and customer service. Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office programs, Golf POS, Golf Genius, and Tee Sheet operations.
  • Follows and implements all procedures and policies as described in the Palm Beach Gardens Golf Course Manual, as well as the Community Services Division procedures and the City's Policies and Procedures.
  • Enforces policies and standard operating procedures regarding daily golf, facility use, and financial operations for staff and patrons alike.
  • Assists the Management Staff and other Golf Professionals with coordination and set up of programs, tournaments, leagues, and events.
  • Assists with the setup and break down of event rental space(s).
  • Coordinates with on-duty operations staff to ensure customer service levels and standard operating procedures are being utilized.
  • Fields questions, concerns, and complaints related to golf operations and utilizes knowledge and skill to solve these in a timely manner.
  • Responds to public inquiries in a positive manner maintaining the highest integrity of professionalism.
  • Performs various administrative duties as assigned and assists support staff when necessary.
  • Must be available to work early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, events, and other odd hours.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
    • High school degree or equivalent.
    • Student must be enrolled full time at an accredited university or college.
    • Must be classified as an Undergraduate student; and provide an unofficial transcript and resume;
    • Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0; and
    • Some golf experience.

Special Qualifications/Preferences
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record
