This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLainยฎ branded products. Weil-McLainยฎ is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881.
How you will make an impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Foundry Production Worker, you will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment and performing essential tasks across molding, casting, and finishing processes. Duties include setting up machines and work areas, opening and closing molds, positioning and inspecting cores, and extracting, degating, and transporting castings. You will troubleshoot and adjust equipment, perform pattern and hook changes, and repair molds or cores as needed. Additional responsibilities include cleaning work areas, storing tools, inspecting forklift equipment, and safely handling materials. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to safety and quality in a repetitive, hands-on production environment.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
  1. Core and Mold Production
    1. Assemble, inspect, and finish completed cores for boiler parts according to standard procedures.
    2. Locate and install proper core boxes and rollover plates, ensuring correct alignment and setup.
    3. Perform pattern changes, inspect core quality, and repair cores as needed.
    4. Set chaplets and cores, close molds, clamp flasks, and pour molds with precision.
    5. Maintain clean core areas and assist in the positioning of cores on the production floor.
  2. Casting and Finishing Operations
    1. Open molds, extract and degate castings, and transport them to cleaning or knockout areas.
    2. Sort and dispose of defective castings and gating systems following quality standards.
    3. Operate blast equipment to load/unload castings and remove excess iron or debris.
    4. Shake out flasks, stack on floors, and perform hook changes as needed.
    5. Support cleanup and finishing processes to prepare castings for final handling.
  3. Machine Operations and Floor Setup
    1. Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and molding machinery to support daily production.
    2. Inspect and adjust sand systems, flasks, squeeze boards, and mold conditions.
    3. Set up work areas, machines, and production floors in alignment with job requirements.
    4. Conduct equipment inspections, including forklifts, and report any irregularities.
    5. Assist with the safe movement and storage of materials and tools throughout the shift.
    6. Perform various tasks as directed by supervisors to support continuous operation.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to compute calculations for materials
  • Ability to work in demanding manufacturing environment
  • Previous manufacturing and/or foundry experience (Preferred)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift 50-75lbs
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods, as required by the job.
  • Requires the use of appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) due to potential hazards associated with machinery or chemicals.
