Role Overview:

The Senior General Contractor Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive construction cost estimates for commercial projects. This role is critical to preconstruction planning, bid development, subcontractor coordination, and financial feasibility analysis.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of commercial building systems, construction methods, and pricing structures, with the ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications. This role works closely with Project Managers, executives, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the bidding lifecycle.

Job Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in post-construction estimating within a general contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience preparing detailed cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and bid packages.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope analysis.
  • Experience with building connected software is preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost control, and pricing strategy.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Solicit & Evaluate Subcontractor Bids: Conduct bid leveling and scope reviews to ensure completeness and competitiveness.
  • Develop Bid Packages: Assemble detailed proposal submissions and pricing breakdowns.
  • Conduct Scope Gap Analysis: Identify risk factors, exclusions, and inconsistencies in project documents.
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction Teams: Support budget development and strategic planning with Project Managers and leadership.
  • Value Engineering: Recommend cost-saving alternatives while maintaining quality and design intent.
  • Maintain Cost Database: Update historical pricing data and cost libraries for future bid accuracy.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
