The Opportunity

The Commercial Construction Assistant Project Manager plays an essential role in supporting Project Managers and Superintendents throughout every phase of construction.

This position is responsible for coordinating project documentation, assisting with scheduling and budgeting, supporting field operations, and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to ECI's quality standards.

Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proactive communication, and a desire to continuously learn and grow within commercial construction.


What You'll DoProject Coordination
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents from preconstruction through project closeout.
  • Assist with project buyout, subcontract preparation, and purchase order administration.
  • Prepare, collect, review, and distribute submittals.
  • Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation using Procore.
  • Maintain project directories and document control within Procore.
  • Assist with monitoring project budgets and forecasting updates.
  • Track project design changes and associated cost impacts.
Scheduling & Documentation
  • Assist with developing and maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project and Procore.
  • Prepare detailed meeting agendas and record meeting minutes for Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings.
  • Maintain project logs, reports, and closeout documentation.
  • Assist with preconstruction planning and project closeout activities.
Field Support
  • Coordinate with Superintendents to support field operations.
  • Track subcontractor back charges and project logs.
  • Monitor safety documentation and assist with compliance efforts.
  • Help coordinate inspections, testing, and municipal approvals.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Team Collaboration
  • Support the Estimating team during budgeting and bid preparation when needed.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Owners, Architects, Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Provide exceptional communication and administrative support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with additional project responsibilities as needed to support successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting commercial construction projects with a General Contractor.
  • Experience supporting ground-up and tenant improvement commercial construction projects.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • High ethical standards and personal accountability.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
  • Procore experience.
  • Microsoft Project experience.
  • Bluebeam experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Understanding of commercial construction systems, including structural, civil, architectural, and MEP coordination.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
