Job description

SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director/Unit Chief, provides comprehensive clinical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric and physical/environmental stressors using a full range of psychiatric therapeutic interventions, including evaluations, and individual, family, and group psychotherapy. This individual also reports to the Clinical Director of Social Work and Counseling regarding professional standards, regulatory and licensing requirements, credentials/privileges, and continuing education.

The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES Provides emergency triage, evaluation, brief treatment, and clinical referrals to children, adolescents, and families through the Brown University Health Pediatric Behavioral Health Emergency Services (LPBHES) Department, a partnership between Bradley Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital & Gateway Healthcare.

Provides urgent and emergency triage (either by phone, virtually or in-person) and conducts clinical assessments across Brown University Health emergency service sites. This includes, but is not limited to, Bradley Access, Hasbro emergency department, and Gateway community sites. Additionally, our service operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and employees may be required to work different shifts as service needs require.

Consults with Gateway intake and Bradley patient registration staff as needed around the scheduling of patients for community evaluations. Manages the disposition of cases seen through the Kids'Link emergency service. Collaborates with other members of the Brown University Health PBHES Team.

Manages crisis intervention with patients and families awaiting inpatient admissions or assessed as a candidate for intensive outpatient care as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization. Complete all required documentation in a professional and timely manner, as assigned. Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment interventions, and recommendations as relevant.

Clinical case management as required to coordinate and collaborate in care with both the multidisciplinary team and community supports (schools, therapists, physicians, etc.) for assessment, communication, and aftercare planning. Participates in service-related meetings including but not limited to team meetings, rounds, clinical conferences, community meetings, staff meetings, and in-service. May participate in research or other specialized activities as arranged with supervisor

Attends Social Work and Counseling Department staff meetings and meets all related responsibilities. Demonstrates conduct which exemplifies the professional Code of Ethics. Attend supervision as required.

May provide supervision of social work/counseling students, as assigned. This entails: Providing reliable, high-quality supervision of trainees, as assigned and appropriate. Participating in teaching of trainees, as assigned and appropriate.

Maintaining active faculty status if it is appropriate/required for assigned trainees. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Masters' degree in any human services field required, such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology from an accredited graduate school.

QUALIFICATIONS Current independent license from State of Rhode Island required (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Significant experience and/or training work with children, adolescents, and families.
