Job description

The Gameday Host / Onfield Emcee / Hype Person is a key member of the gameday operations crew, responsible for enhancing the fan experience through the execution of all fan-facing pregame activities, in-game promotions, and entertainment elements. The ideal candidate is energetic, outgoing, enthusiastic, and comfortable engaging large crowds and fans of all ages. Previous experience in a similar entertainment, hosting, or emcee role is preferred. The Host / Emcee will report directly to the Gameday Manager and Assistant General Manager and work alongside the gameday operations crew to help deliver a high quality and engaging gameday production.
All Chicago Union home games are played at ETHS's Lazier Field in Evanston, IL. Local candidates are strongly preferred.
Job Qualifications
  • Strong stage presence and confidence engaging large crowds
  • Ability to memorize scripts while also improvising naturally when needed
  • Ability to help plan and execute fan activations and assist with music selection
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced live event environment
  • On-camera experience is a plus
  • Background in sports, entertainment, theater, broadcasting, or live events is preferred
Responsibilities
The Host / Emcee will serve as the primary in-game entertainer during all Chicago Union home games, including:
  • Conducting live reads, promotions, contests, and sponsor activations
  • Engaging with fans throughout the game and during breaks in play
  • Assisting with pregame ceremonies and postgame activities
  • Supporting crowd energy and overall atmosphere throughout the event
  • Arriving approximately one hour before gates open for production meetings, setup, and rehearsals

2026 Home Game Schedule
  • Friday, June 5th at 7pm vs. Madison Radicals
  • Sunday, June 21st at 6pm vs. Madison Radicals
  • Sunday, July 5th at 4pm vs. Indianapolis AlleyCats
  • Friday, July 10th at 7pm vs. New York Empire
  • Saturday, July 18th at 6pm vs. Pittsburgh Thunderbirds

Optional playoff dates may include June 24th-26th and August 7th-9th, depending on team qualification and hosting.
This is a paid role. Compensation will be determined based on previous experience and qualifications.
