Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for supervising the quality control inspection group ensuring that daily inspection priorities are completed, track defects, update KPI's on a weekly basis, provide training on inspection techniques, processes procedures as well as company-wide policies and procedures.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads the QC inspection group and is responsible for recruiting/selecting, retaining, coaching, training, and managing performance and career development of full-time and contract employees.
  • Manage headcount needs based on backlog demand, maintains, reviews and reports on Project QA budget performance to plan.
  • Provide information to Operations Quality Manager concerning annual department staffing and budget needs.
  • Reviews quality control data and implements programs to improve quality performance and manufacturing efficiencies impacted by the quality assurance group, reports status to quality management and compiles QC KPI metrics such as NCRs and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintains quality levels through enforcement of quality control processes, procedures and standards, training and reinforcement of expectations, and implementations of corrective or preventive actions.
  • Oversees activities designed to improve consistency of operations and suggests best practices.
  • Stays abreast of technical developments in testing methodologies & instrumentation, as well as advances in quality and business improvement systems.
  • Administers weekly & monthly reports, metrics reporting, timesheet processing, implementation of departmental SOPs, etc. and leads weekly QA/QC review meetings with operations departments.
  • Participates in operational meetings, production meetings, intra- and inter-departmental team meetings.
  • Establish good working relationships with personnel from departments outside of the quality assurance department, i.e. Manufacturing, Materials, Engineering, etc.
  • Act as liaison between outside personnel and inspection personnel to avoid interruptions.
  • Schedules outside inspectors into the TAS facilities when needed.
  • Periodically review and update inspection procedures and processes to determine and ensure compliance of required inspection levels and checkpoints.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by TAS.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as drawings, project specifications, procedures as well as an expert in reading and reviewing engineering drawing title blocks for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong, writing, verbal, organizational and communication skills; using such skills with various levels of management, customers, and other employees.
  • Familiar with computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read weld maps, weld symbols, and produce weld maps.
  • Ability to read PFDs, PIDs and other related mechanical & electrical drawings or schematics.
  • The ability to work under minimal supervision daily.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours when needed based on project related needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 7-10 years related quality experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-5 years of supervisor/lead experience (over inspectors, auditor, QA/QC personnel, etc.)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in quality utilizing ISO 9001:2015 and other quality management systems
  • Experience in resource planning (forecasting headcount needs)
  • Experience in network electronic file management.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with ASME Section VIII, IX, V, ASME B31.9, ISO-9001, AISC, AWS D1.1, SSPC, or similar welding, construction, and quality codes

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • NDE qualified, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • ISO 9001:2015 internal auditing

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • Associates degree in related sciences or experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is at least 50% to 60% at a desk working with a computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
