Job description

We are seeking a full-time Sales Engineer to join our company. This role involves a variety of pre-contract activities, including job-site surveys, load calculations, system design, equipment selection, preparation and presentation of sales proposals, support in securing orders, and coordination of awarded work in accordance with current Sales Engineer guidelines. The Sales Engineer will also contribute to the management of customer accounts to promote long-term satisfaction and profitability for Old School Engineering. In this capacity, the Sales Engineer will serve as a key point of contact between Old School Engineering and the customer for both verbal and written communication. Responsibilities may also include periodic customer visits, coordination of issue resolution, and support with payment follow-up when appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support pricing strategy discussions with partners for new and renewing customers.
• Participate in sales meetings, conventions, trade shows, and engineering society activities as appropriate.
• Assist in estimating piping and sheet metal construction projects.
• Help develop project schedules, material plans, and purchase orders to support work within project scope.
• Assist in obtaining subcontractor estimates and bids, coordinating project buyouts, and monitoring subcontractor progress against plan.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors on upcoming bids.
• Communicate directly with subcontractors through various channels to support project coverage and responsiveness.
• Assist in resolving issues that may arise during construction projects.
• Review plans and specifications for completeness and prepare requests for information (RFIs) when additional detail is needed.
• Obtain competitive pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors as required.
• Provide support for project management responsibilities on select projects.
• Monitor project costs for variances against estimates and contribute to future bid preparation.
• Remain current on emerging technology and construction methods to support quality and productivity improvements.
• Coordinate factory or in-house field start-up activities.
• Assist in managing closeout documentation, including as-builts, warranty letters, start-up reports, balance reports, and O&Ms.
• Follow up on leads assigned or provided by the Company in accordance with established company processes. Company-provided leads remain the property of the Company. Orders must be submitted in line with company approval procedures before being considered final.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 2-5 years of experience in a technical sales role, preferably within the HVAC industry.
• Strong understanding of HVAC principles, equipment, and applications.
• Familiarity with building codes and regulations related to HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Working knowledge of HVAC software, such as AutoCAD, is preferred.
