Summary:


Olson and Olson, LLP is seeking an attorney to work in its litigation practice group offering hands-on work through all stages of litigation. The attorney will be mentored to develop their own docket, interface with the client, investigate facts, take depositions, draft motions, draft discovery requests/responses, and prepare cases for settlement or trial. This position is for a 100% litigation practice. Our firm has cases in every District Court in Harris County and you will have the opportunity to practice in each of those courts, in a team environment, that wants you to succeed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Initial file review and evaluation of petitions of assigned cases

• Draft legal documents such as briefs, motions, pleadings, and appeals

• Investigate facts of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly

• Resolve cases through settlement or trial/appeal

• Make appearances before Texas District Courts

• Participates in marketing and networking activities


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Civil litigation - knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence

• Mock trial experience a plus

• Legal research and analysis

• Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and proceedings; and of state and federal laws, regulations, and rules

• Good communication skills to correspond to/with counsel, clients, and courts

• Self-motivated – Goal Oriented


Computer Skills:


• Proficiency with MS Office tools and Adobe Acrobat

• Experience in Prolaw case management software a plus


Education and Experience:


• Graduation from an accredited law School

• Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas

• Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas

• 0-2 years legal experience at a law firm or governmental agency

• Litigation and trial experience preferred
