Job description

County Attorney Intern

Internship Dates: Summer with flexible scheduling

The Pinellas County Attorney's Office is looking for a legal intern for summer 2026. Applicants must be current 2nd year or later law students at an ABA approved law school. The intern will assist with all aspects of the County's legal department.

What Would You Do?

  • Assist with various aspects of litigation, including but not limited to drafting motions and observing court hearings

  • Research and draft ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions

  • Observe County Commission board meetings

  • Participate in projects as may be assigned by staff attorneys

  • Draft agreements and prepare memoranda

  • Complete evaluation of the internship program upon completion

What Do You Need To Have?

Must be a current second year or later law student at an ABA approved law school

  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, LexisNexis or Westlaw, knowledge of Prolaw a plus

Learning Goals

  • Knowledge of County government

  • Understand the role of the County Attorney's Office

  • Draft various legal documents

  • Network opportunities with various County staff and officials
