Quality Assurance Food Technologist
Store Support Center
We are searching for an experienced Quality Assurance Food Technologist for our Store Support Center located at 600 Citadel Drive. Commerce, California, 90040.
SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance FoodTechnologist supports the Quality Assurance Manager and applies scientificprinciples in product development, continuing product quality assurance andfood safety programs as it relates to Chedraui USA Private Label Products.Ensures that vendors comply with applicable US Food and Drug Administration, USDepartment of Agriculture, State and Local regulations and Chedraui USArequirements. Investigates and responds to product quality complaints orinquiries from stores and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned or required.
  • Performs and completes product evaluations, first production runs, and other product testing as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager or Director and Product Managers.
  • Samples and tests inbound private label products per product monitoring schedule to ensure compliance of products to established specifications and issues product hold or rejection notice if product is non-compliant. Will coordinate corrective action with Quality Assurance Manager, Product Managers and Vendors.
  • Investigates customer and store product quality complaints, notifies vendors, and seeks resolution, as necessary. Maintains customer complaint log and reports quarterly findings.
  • Supports Quality Assurance Manager and Director in advising and providing technical expertise to Product Managers, Category Managers, Store Operations, Marketing, Legal/Loss Prevention, Warehousing, and Customer Relations as it relates to Private Label product quality and food safety issues.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains product specifications in shared folder as well as the TraceGains PLM tool for all Private Label products.
  • Assists Quality Assurance Manager in reviewing finished product labeling for compliance to appropriate federal and state regulations including FDA's New Nutrition Facts Labeling.
  • Assists the Quality Assurance Manager in training and mentoring QA interns in lab techniques and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related science degree; and/or minimum 2 years' experience with food manufacturer in quality control environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Also required is familiarity with current FDA, USDA, EPA, and Health Department regulations. HACCP Certified, Food Safety Handler Certified and/or IFT Professional membership are highly desirable. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.
COMPENSATION: The starting salary for this position is $70,304.00. The actual starting pay will be determined by a number of qualifications; including, experience and relevant skills.
