What you will do:

The Product Strategy Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that drive growth, profitability, and market leadership across assigned product categories. This role serves as the subject matter expert for designated product lines while partnering closely with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Marketing, and executive leadership to align product strategies with customer needs and business objectives. The Product Strategy Manager leads product portfolio planning, supports strategic customer opportunities, strengthens supplier relationships, and provides technical expertise that enables sales growth and operational excellence. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, technical product knowledge, and leadership skills to drive category performance and long-term business success.

Product Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for assigned product categories to support revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion
  • Manage product portfolios through product selection, lifecycle planning, assortment optimization, and market positioning
  • Evaluate product performance, pricing strategies, inventory investment, and profitability to identify growth opportunities
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer demand, and emerging technologies to support strategic planning
  • Recommend new products, services, and solutions that strengthen the company's competitive position

Sales & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned product categories
  • Translate complex product, system, and technical information into practical customer solutions
  • Support Sales teams by providing technical expertise, product recommendations, and consultative guidance
  • Assist with strategic customer presentations, product demonstrations, and technical training
  • Lead responses to complex customer requests and support resolution of high-value account opportunities
  • Partner with Sales leadership to develop strategies that improve product adoption and customer success

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Inventory, Marketing, and executive leadership to align business priorities
  • Collaborate with Purchasing teams to establish inventory strategies, purchasing plans, and replenishment objectives
  • Support forecasting of product demand, inventory requirements, and future business opportunities
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure successful execution of product strategies throughout the organization
  • Champion standardized processes, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives

Vendor & Market Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and strategic vendor partners
  • Collaborate with vendors to support product launches, promotional initiatives, training, and business development
  • Evaluate supplier performance, product quality, pricing, and service levels
  • Negotiate strategic initiatives and collaborate on opportunities that enhance customer value and company performance
  • Represent QXO at manufacturer meetings, trade shows, and industry events

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to Purchasing Agents, Sales teams, and other cross-functional partners
  • Support employee development through coaching, product training, and knowledge sharing
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence throughout the organization
  • Support organizational growth initiatives and evolving business priorities
  • Perform additional duties and strategic projects as assigned

  • Advanced technical knowledge of assigned product categories and construction applications
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring employees, or providing functional leadership
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing, pricing strategies, and supply chain operations
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, DMSi, Microsoft Office, and business intelligence tools preferred
  • Ability to evaluate product performance, profitability, and market opportunities through data-driven decision making
  • Combination of office, warehouse, branch, manufacturing, and customer-facing environments
  • Frequent collaboration with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, manufacturers, and executive leadership
  • Regular travel to branch locations, customer sites, vendor meetings, and industry events
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while analyzing reports and developing strategic plans
  • Occasional lifting of product samples, literature, or training materials up to 25 pounds
  • Flexibility to travel and support business initiatives as operational needs require
