Job description

A well-established wholesale industrial distribution organization is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to lead and execute all HR functions across multi-state operations. This is a hands-on, onsite role based in Raleigh, North Carolina, reporting to senior leadership.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and executing the full scope of HR activities across multi-state operations. This role serves as a critical link between management and employees, providing both strategic HR leadership and hands-on execution across the entire employee lifecycle.

This is an execution-focused role suited for an HR professional who thrives in an operational environment. The successful candidate will build, manage, and continuously improve HR processes, while supporting day-to-day business operations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating with a high level of ownership, balancing transactional HR responsibilities with system improvement, compliance, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities to include

  • Execute HR activities across the full employee lifecycle
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, and performance management processes
  • Support employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA) and maintain accurate HRIS records
  • Oversee benefits administration and workers' compensation claims
  • Partner with operational leadership on safety programs and incident reporting
  • Support payroll accuracy, attendance tracking, and policy development
  • Advise managers and senior leadership on HR policies and organizational matters
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to employees and governance groups as needed
  • Supervise HR staff
  • Travel occasionally as required

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or senior HR generalist role
  • Hands-on experience across all major HR functions, including recruitment, payroll, benefits administration, policy development, HR planning, and employee relations
  • Experience supporting operational, warehouse, sales, and technical employee populations
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with management and report to senior leadership
  • Experience supervising a small HR team
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, psychology or related field.
  • HRCI and/or SHRM professional certification
