Job description

Who You Are

You are passionate about HR strategy and care deeply about the customer experience. You can simplify and articulate legalese and complex concepts into clear, easy-to-understand terms. You genuinely enjoy figuring out how and why things work, and are excited by opportunities to drive improvements across your team and the broader function. You are comfortable engaging directly with customers in complex or escalated situations, and do so with empathy and ingenuity. You love learning about new products and employment law developments, and empowering your team to do the same.

HR Consulting is a high-value customer offering for Justworks and a critical aspect of our Customer Success Organization (CSO). As the Manager, HR Consulting, you will be a strategic leader who thinks and acts both broadly and tactically to champion your team of Senior HR Consultants while serving as an HR subject matter expert across Justworks to inform the product and large-scale initiatives. Reporting to the head of the function (Senior Manager, HR Consulting), you will have ample opportunity to help shape the vision and growth strategy for the team and implement creative and collaborative customer and product solutions - in partnership with stakeholders across the Customer Success Organization, Revenue Operations, Legal, Marketing, Sales, and Product.

Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
  • Lead a team of Senior HR Consultants, serving as a strategic thought partner in their day-to-day work and supporting their ongoing growth as HR and service professionals
  • Conduct 1:1s, lead regular team meetings, provide regular coaching and constructive feedback, prioritize quality assurance in your team's customer interactions, and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Continue to expand the HR Consulting function by hiring, onboarding, and engaging top talent
  • Drive and help shape service excellence standards for our Dedicated HR Consulting program
  • Communicate directly with customers as needed, especially in escalated cases or situations where a senior perspective is required
  • Oversee team projects - including the customer compliance newsletter, customer learning opportunities (such as webinars), and HR-related content, tools, and experiences - providing direction on scope, giving feedback, and connecting team members with stakeholders
  • Partner with Legal, Product, and Revenue teams on upcoming employment legislation and HR trends - how it impacts Justworks customers and how we will best support them through change
  • Support and guide the team's work on optimizing efficiencies across the function, including the integration of AI tools
  • Display a high level of professionalism, compassion, and ownership when working with your team and with customers
  • Work with internal teams to improve processes, with an eye toward improving customer experience
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
How You Will Do Your Work

As a Manager, HR Consulting, how results are achieved is paramount for your success and ultimately result in our success as an organization. In this role, your foundational knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes are anchored in the following:

  • Culture and change champion - owning and balancing the conflicts between standing still and moving forwards; believes in, helps develop, and cultivates excitement in their workplace culture.
  • Takes responsibility - being accountable, being committed, and accepting ownership for one's decisions, actions, and behavior.
  • Curious - the innate desire to learn, grow and understand.
  • Plans and aligns - Breaks down objectives into appropriate initiatives and actions; stages activities with relevant milestones and schedules.
  • Manages complexity - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems; operates with very little direction.

In addition, all Justworkers focus on aligning their behaviors to our core values known as COGIS. It stands for:

  • Camaraderie - Day to day you can be seen working together toward a higher purpose. You like to have fun. You're an active listener, treat people respectfully, and have a strong desire to know and help others.

  • Grit - You demonstrate grit by having the courage to commit and persevere. You're committed, earnest, and dive in to get the job done well with a positive attitude.
  • Integrity - Simply put, do what you say and say what you'll do. You're honest and forthright, have a strong moral compass, and strive to match your words with your actions while leading by example.
  • Simplicity - Be like Einstein: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler."
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years experience at the HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, HR Manager, or Employee Relations Manager level
  • Experience handling compliance across multiple US states
  • At least 1 of the following HR certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP

  • Previous people management experience preferred
  • Experience in tech, consulting, SaaS, and/or PEO environments a plus
