PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Music Publishing Manager (Bilingual) manages the development of new Spanish and bilingual music that is integral to OCP's music publishing catalog, also assisting with English repertoire. The MPMB interfaces with composers in the onboarding and development of music that meets Music Publishing Creative's needs and aligns with the company's strategic plans and sales goals. This role is responsible for transcribing, editing and arranging music, ensuring alignment with OCP's high publishing standards. The MPMB also serves as a subject matter expert and advocate for new Spanish-language and bilingual music, interfacing with and supporting the Products and Label verticals of OCP as needed.
As OCP's Spanish-language and bilingual repertoire continues to expand in volume, complexity, and strategic importance, this role requires advanced creative, technical, and linguistic expertise to meet organizational standards and growth objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with a team to evaluate publishing worthiness of music submissions.
  • Works with composers whose music is accepted to ensure theological soundness of texts, suitability for liturgical use, artistic quality of music, accessibility and usability for target audience.
  • Transcribes, edits, arranges, and notates music from composers and songwriters with a professional level of competency, including ability to arrange for choir, keyboard, and other instruments, ensuring alignment with OCP's high publishing standards.
  • In conjunction with Director of MPC and other departmental staff, creates a schedule of music publishing for composers whose works are prominent in our various programs.
  • Uses knowledge and experience of composition, Catholic choirs, instrumentalists and congregations to ensure the music we publish is successful in multiple settings: Parishes, Licensing/Sync, Label.
  • Expand the roster of composers in order to provide sufficient high-quality repertoire for publishing needs, especially for Spanish-language publications.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with OCP composers, acting as a primary contact for all facets of their engagement with OCP, including mentoring as appropriate.
  • Reviews new music for publication.
  • Organizes, coordinates and documents music review activities, and ensures communication to composers on status.
  • Coordinates project schedules with Enterprise Portfolio Management (EPM) and Product Development.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to identify and fill gaps in repertoire for Product and Label verticals as well as Music Publishing catalog needs.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to verify contract, shares and copyright accuracy.
  • Fulfills all essential responsibilities while exhibiting core values of Humility, Empathy, and Passion.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Data creation and entry as needed for music catalog.
  • Coordinates with EPM, Permissions, Product Development, Marketing departments as needed.
  • Serves on Hymnal and Missal Selection committees as needed.
  • Provides input to the Executive Producer of Recordings and Multimedia for the recording and video of new music.
  • Provides information and suggestions to Marketing campaigns as needed.
  • Attends department, division, and companywide meetings.
  • Represents OCP and its artists at conventions and conferences as needed.
  • Position also includes other duties as assigned.

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Music
  • Six years' experience in a leadership role in a Catholic parish music ensemble
  • Demonstrated proficiency in piano and sight-reading/sight-singing
  • Demonstrated proficiency in counterpoint, voice-leading, chord symbols
  • Demonstrated proficiency in transcription and arranging
  • Excellent bilingual spelling and grammar skills
  • Detail-oriented; excellent proofreading ability
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Dorico or Finale music software
  • Advanced knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy
  • Advanced mastery of Spanish language (minimally "level C2" on CEFR scale and "Distinguished" on ACTFL scale)
  • Great organizational and communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Advanced knowledge of OCP products and the Catholic worship industry
  • Experience working in music industry related field: publishing, label, music business, radio, etc.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Estimated starting pay range between $79,300 - $85,100, depending on qualifications and experience.
