Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate each patient's history and trauma experiences.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, strategically tailored to address trauma recovery and foster resilience.
  • Provide a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, helping clients process their trauma experiences while developing effective coping skills.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure a well-rounded approach to patient care.
  • Provide timely crisis intervention and support during moments of trauma-related emergencies, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Educate patients and their families on trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available resources for ongoing support.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in accordance with all legal and ethical standards and ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate regularly in case consultations and team meetings focused on sharing best practices in trauma-informed care.
  • Stay informed on the latest research and methodologies in trauma therapy, contributing to ongoing professional development and service excellence.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary client population includes adults and adolescents who are working through experiences of trauma, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Counselors will play a vital role in transforming the lives of these individuals by facilitating healing and recovery through compassionate therapeutic approaches.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling is preferred.
  • Sound understanding of trauma-related disorders, effective trauma-informed treatment modalities, and resilience-promoting strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions, fostering a judicious approach to treatment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an inherent capability to approach others with empathy and non-judgment.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-stress scenarios and crisis situations while responding effectively to clients' needs.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard computer applications.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with prior experience working in a community health setting or with populations experiencing trauma will be highly valued.
