Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Avon office. This position requires experience in both front-office and back-office medical assisting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong clinical and administrative abilities, and a commitment to providing outstanding patient care.
This role is essential to ensuring efficient office operations, maintaining clinic flow, and delivering a positive patient experience.
Key
ResponsibilitiesFront Office Responsibilities
- Greet patients and manage check-in and check-out processes.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate provider calendars.
- Answer and route incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and registration details.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay balances.
- Assist with daily cash reconciliation and payment processing.
- Prepare and organize patient paperwork and office documentation.
- Manage referrals and medical records requests.
- Support prior authorization workflows as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
Back Office Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, height, weight, and pain scores.
- Perform patient intake and update medical histories.
- Document patient information accurately within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms.
- Assist providers with patient care and clinic flow.
- Coordinate patient follow-up care and communicate provider instructions.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
General Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with providers, medical assistants, front office staff, and leadership.
- Support operational initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a patient-centered approach in all interactions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification or healthcare-related education preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical workflows, and office procedures.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor with a strong commitment to patient service.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
