Insurance Quoting Specialist (Back Office)

Adamson Insurance & Associates

Ankeny, IA

Full-time

Posted 19 days ago

Job description

Job Type: Full-Time, In-Office
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: On-site at our agency office (The District of Ankeny)
Department: Rate Support

About the Role:
As a Back Office Insurance Quoting Specialist, you will be responsible for precise insurance quoting, back office support, and data entry tasks that directly impact our sales and remarketing teams. You’ll use multiple carrier portals and rating platforms to generate accurate personal-lines insurance quotes and maintain high standards of accuracy and documentation. This role is not sales but is critical to efficient operations and excellent client service.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform insurance quoting and rate generation in carrier systems such as Progressive, Universal, Integrity, and GEICO.

  • Review quoting request details for accuracy, including underwriting factors like roof age, prior losses, driver history, dog exposure, and specialty notes.

  • Use carrier portals and comparative rater systems to generate and verify quotes that meet carrier and agency standards.

  • Pull and interpret MVRs and reports when applicable and permitted.

  • Attach and organize completed quote PDFs, rate summaries, and documentation into the agency management system.

  • Maintain data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with underwriting guidelines and internal SOPs.

  • Support internal workflows and collaborate with Sales via task queues and internal systems.

  • Contribute to back office operations, ensuring high quality and consistent adherence to insurance quoting processes.

Who Is Perfect For This Job:

  • Someone looking to become licensed in insurance and seeking an insurance career. (Licensing Not Required)

  • Meticulous with data entry, accuracy, and documentation, where precision matters.

  • Comfortable navigating multiple insurance quoting systems and web-based carrier portals, applying underwriting criteria with a detail-first mindset.

  • Process-oriented, able to follow step-by-step SOPs and internal rate support guidelines.

  • Collaborative with strong communication skills for clarifying missing or inconsistent information.

  • Efficient with routine tasks and able to meet turnaround expectations without sacrificing quality.

  • Someone who thrives in a structured back office support role rather than a sales or client-facing position.

You will succeed if you:

  • Strive for consistency over speed alone.

  • Think critically about underwriting flags and data accuracy.

  • Treat every quote as something that will be presented to a client or carrier.

  • Value organized, searchable documentation and internal compliance as part of performance.
