Job description

Q Labs is looking for a Chemist 1 to join our Analytical Chemistry Team! The Chemist 1 will conduct general chemical analyses in a timely and scientifically sound manner with primary focus on basic chemical analyses such as titrations, gravimetric analyses, etc. on incoming food, pharmaceutical, and/or other types of samples.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct the assigned study/analysis in accordance with SOPโ€™s/prescribed methodology.
  • Maintain the necessary quality control records to substantiate the proper conductance of test procedures.
  • Keep proper records of all test procedures and generated data.
  • Monitor equipment in the section and report any malfunctions to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain neat and accurate records.
  • Keep chemistry lab neat and organized.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use and maintain necessary equipment in the laboratory.
  • Mathematical and chemical knowledge to perform calculations.
  • Knowledge of appropriate analytical techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and understand methodology employed in the area.
  • Can keep accurate, legible, and complete records following good documentation practices.
  • Good written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to get along with others.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Ability to recognize any malfunctions in equipment and any unsafe laboratory situations.

Experience and Education:

  • Completion of four years of college, resulting in graduation or its equivalent, with major work in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Completion of 2 years of college, resulting in graduation or its equivalent, with major work in laboratory science and one year of laboratory experience.
