What is a full time 2D game artist?

A Full Time 2D Game Artist is a professional who creates visual elements for video games, such as characters, backgrounds, environments, and user interface components, using two-dimensional art. They work closely with game designers and developers to bring the game's visual style to life, ensuring consistency and high quality throughout the project. In a full-time role, these artists typically participate in every stage of the game's production, from initial concept sketches to final assets, and may also help with animations or promotional materials.

Proficiency in digital illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Clip Studio Paint, and familiarity with asset implementation in game engines like Unity is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and effective communication are essential soft skills for collaborating with designers and programmers. These skills ensure the creation of engaging visual assets that enhance gameplay and meet project goals in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
