Press Secretary
The Ounce of Prevention Fund is oneof Chicago's most energized, future-focused organizations devoted to earlychildhood development.

Reportingto the Manager, Illinois Birth to Three Contracts you will:
  • Promote First Five Years Fund's (FFYF) position in the media as the leading advocacy voice in the early childhood education (ECE) field, developing and implementing a robust earned media strategy with an eye toward maintaining and growing ECE as a popular bipartisan issue among voters and elected officials alike.
  • Drive FFYF's position in the media as the leading advocacy voice in the early childhood education space and help further promote the Executive Director's brand as an expert and thought leader on the issue nationally.
  • Produce and/or oversee production of press materials, including releases, reports, fact sheets, and memos
  • Organize, prepare, and staff the Executive Director and other senior staff for interviews, press events, and speaking opportunities
  • Create and distribute talking points, messaging and other innovative communications based on research and policy analysis
  • Proactively identify earned media opportunities for FFYF or early childhood education in general for national and other media markets in key Congressional districts
  • Monitor media coverage and implement a skilled rapid response operation

Qualifications:
  • B.A. in communications, public relations or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in communications, including external and crisis communications
  • Must have experience working directly with the media
