What is a freight quote?

A freight quote is an estimate of the cost to ship goods from one location to another, provided by a freight carrier or broker. Job description

We are hiring an experienced Freight Broker to develop new shipper accounts, build a profitable book of business, and manage freight from initial quote through final delivery.
We are specifically looking for someone with direct freight brokerage or transportation sales experience who can handle both sides of the role: generating new revenue and successfully executing each shipment. You will be responsible for prospecting, pricing, carrier sourcing, margin protection, customer communication, and account growth.
This is not an account-support, carrier-sales-only, or inside coordination position. The successful candidate must be comfortable creating their own opportunities, closing business, and taking full responsibility for customer service and shipment performance.
Responsibilities
  • Prospect and secure new shipper accounts through cold calling, email outreach, referrals, networking, and relationship development
  • Build and grow a profitable book of business through new sales, repeat shipments, and expanded customer lanes
  • Prepare freight quotes and negotiate rates with customers and carriers while protecting gross profit margins
  • Source and qualify carriers based on capacity, pricing, reliability, safety, and service requirements
  • Manage shipments from booking and pickup through tracking, delivery, and final issue resolution
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers and carriers regarding shipment status, delays, and service concerns
  • Monitor freight markets, lane pricing, capacity, revenue, gross profit, and account performance
  • Resolve service failures, claims, scheduling issues, and operational challenges quickly and professionally

Requirements
  • 2+ years of direct freight brokerage, logistics sales, or transportation sales experience
  • Proven experience prospecting for new business and closing shipper accounts
  • Strong understanding of freight markets, carrier sourcing, lane pricing, and margin management
  • Ability to independently manage the complete freight lifecycle from quote through final delivery
  • Experience building or managing a profitable book of business
  • Strong negotiation, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain consistent outbound sales activity while managing multiple active shipments
  • Comfortable working in a performance-driven environment with revenue, gross profit, and margin expectations

Benefits
  • $72,000 draw, approximately $1,500 per week
  • Commission of up to 20% of gross profit
  • Uncapped earning potential
  • Health insurance and benefits package
  • Retirement plan options
  • Paid time off

This opportunity is ideal for an established Freight Broker who wants ownership of their sales pipeline, customer relationships, shipment execution, and long-term earning potential.
