Job description

Purpose: The Test Engineer purpose is vital to the successful execution of our Product Development process. Plan and perform tasks to validate new and existing products throughout development focusing on component and system level tests, and data acquisition. Utilize engineering judgment to establish necessary test criteria and procedures for projects. Participate in design review process and challenge design assumptions/configuration to ensure overall performance and reliability of final product. Frequently involves planning conferences, test resource scheduling, and report writing.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follows all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
  • Development of test plans to evaluate performance and durability of new or current electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal systems
  • Determine test instrumentation, controls, procedures, and fixture designs required for timely and accurate product development
  • Gather data, generate reports and provide technical recommendations to guide design efforts and improve product features
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Team to establish the engineering product development schedule and communicate progress to Management Team
  • Conduct meetings with Project Team and Test Manager as appropriate to refine test criteria, present test options and coordinate test efforts
  • Coordinate or perform fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems
  • Anticipate possible test issues and develop contingency plans to minimize risk
  • Evaluate lab and field testing results and recommend design modifications to eliminate component malfunctions or improve overall system performance
  • Keep current with industry standards regarding testing procedures and equipment as they relate to TEAM Industries' products
  • Seek out opportunities for continuous improvement of current testing capabilities and identify solutions using more efficient procedures or equipment
  • Demonstrate leadership commitment to the TEAM Industries Quality Management system and coach subordinates on their impact on TEAM QMS objectives
  • Promote a positive atmosphere. Actively support activities that promote the welfare and morale of TEAM employees.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Level Specific Responsibilities:

  • Test Engineer I: Executes tests required to complete project test plans. Transforms sound engineering principles and judgment into validation practices utilizing knowledge gained through education and guidance from mentors.
  • Test Engineer II: Executes and assists in creation of test plans. Adheres to a timeline for moderately complex projects. Seeks and accepts guidance from mentors to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Able to handle moderately complex issues and problems, possesses solid working knowledge of the field subject matter. May provide mentorship to less experienced engineers and testing personnel.
