The HR Manager reports to and works closely with the HR Director to develop and implement a comprehensive talent management strategy from workforce planning, to on-boarding, performance management, employee engagement and succession planning that supports business needs.

Job Description

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and develop the recruitment, benefits and employee relations staff.
  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and support to management and staff and participate in decision making processes at each level.
  • Oversee two benefits team members outsourced benefits group and all aspects of medical, dental, pension, LOAs and worker's compensation.
  • Assist with the implementation of process improvements related to recruitment and benefits.
  • Manage employee relations issues and coach/counsel supervisors and managers on policy compliance and legal risks. Present options and recommendations for resolution.
  • Coach supervisors/managers on performance management and employee development.
  • Assist and advise managers on HR policy interpretation, regulation and application.
  • Prepare for and attend unemployment hearings.
  • Conduct exit interviews, provide data from exit interviews to departments on a yearly basis, analyze trends and identify additional retention opportunities/ initiatives.
  • Assist in communication, development and roll-out of human resource programs and policies. 
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors as related to recruitment.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

 

Possess the Ability to:

  • Provide support to managers and staff in area of responsibility to which assigned.
  • Interact effectively with individuals and groups at all levels in the organization.
  • Coordinate work of specialized process or function with staff in Human Resources and with other internal departments, as well as others such as vendors and regulating agencies.
  • Analyze and problem solve in both immediate employee decisions, as well as with more complex issues.
  • Make effective written and verbal presentations including training facilitation.
  • Develop and implement new human resource programs.
  • Write workplace policies and employee communications. 
  • Lead and motivate assigned staff.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effectively utilize computer and appropriate software and interact as needed with company Information Systems.
  • HRIS implementation experience a plus.
Qualifications

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Human Resources, Communications, Psychology, Public Administration or other related field.
  • 5-7 years progressive human resources experience is required. 
  • 2+ years of management experience preferred.
  • Experience as an HR Generalist or proven experience in staffing, benefits and HRIS preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR certification highly desirable.

 

Knowledge of:

  • Services, policies and general responsibilities and requirements/regulations of area of Human Resources to which assigned.
  • Methods and techniques for organizing and implementing programs or projects.
  • Demonstrated capability in providing data analysis and metrics that assist the business with decision making.
  • Thorough knowledge of existing laws and regulations dealing with employment law and the requirements.
  • Computers, keyboarding, and appropriate software to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position assignment.
