Our client is a well-established Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the diverse communities of West Philadelphia. They are seeking an experienced physician leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while leading clinical operations in a mission-driven environment.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a physician who enjoys balancing patient care with executive leadership. The Medical Director will partner closely with the Executive Director/CEO and senior leadership team to drive clinical excellence, improve patient outcomes, mentor providers, and help shape the future direction of the organization.

Position Summary

The Medical Director serves as the senior clinical leader for the organization, providing oversight of medical operations while maintaining an active outpatient clinical practice.

This physician will supervise providers, establish evidence-based clinical protocols, oversee quality initiatives, support regulatory compliance, mentor physicians and advanced practice providers, and collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and organizational growth.

This role offers the opportunity to directly influence both patient care and organizational success while practicing medicine in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.


ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership
  • Provide medical leadership across the organization
  • Supervise physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Promote evidence-based clinical practice

  • Mentor physicians, residents, and clinical staff

Patient Care
  • Maintain an active outpatient primary care practice
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients across the lifespan
  • Deliver comprehensive preventive and chronic disease management
  • Promote patient-centered, relationship-based care
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans
  • Improve population health outcomes
Administrative Leadership
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
  • Participate in risk management and patient safety programs
  • Monitor quality metrics and operational performance
  • Support value-based care initiatives
  • Represent the organization within the community and professional organizations

Must-Have Qualifications
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another relevant primary care specialty
  • Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Minimum 5 years of post-residency clinical experience
  • Previous physician leadership experience (Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Director, Lead Physician, Department Chair, or equivalent)
  • Current outpatient primary care experience
  • Experience supervising physicians and/or advanced practice providers
  • Strong understanding of quality improvement and clinical performance metrics
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with direct patient care
  • Passion for community medicine and improving healthcare access
