Job description

Lead with Vision. Preserve a Legacy. Propel the Future.

Do You Belong Here?

Aerospace Federal Credit Union ($420M, El Segundo, CA) is seeking an engaging, strategic, financially-minded executive to serve as its next President/Chief Executive Officer. This is a unique opportunity to lead a financially sound, highly respected credit union with a strong culture, an exceptional leadership team, and a longstanding commitment to serving the financial needs of the aerospace community.

Due to the planned retirement of the current President/CEO in February 2027, the Board of Directors is seeking a leader who will honor the organization's rich history while guiding Aerospace Federal Credit Union through its next phase of growth, innovation, and member impact.

Located in El Segundo, California, just minutes from Los Angeles International Airport and the Southern California coastline, Aerospace Federal Credit Union serves its members with personalized financial solutions, trusted advice, and an unwavering commitment to exceptional service. The credit union has earned the confidence of its members by building meaningful relationships, maintaining strong financial performance, and fostering a culture where our 22 employees are empowered to make a difference every day.

Is Your Purpose to Serve?

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the President/CEO serves as the organization's chief executive, strategic advisor, and cultural leader. This individual is responsible for developing and executing the long‑term vision of the credit union while ensuring continued financial strength, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional experience for both members and employees.

Working collaboratively with the Board and executive leadership team, the President/CEO will evaluate emerging opportunities, strengthen strategic partnerships, develop future leaders, and ensure the organization remains well‑positioned to meet the evolving needs of its membership. Success in this role will require balancing innovation with disciplined execution while preserving the collaborative, service‑oriented culture that has contributed to the credit union's long‑term success.

The Board is seeking a leader with exceptional financial acumen and a deep understanding of balance sheet management. Overseeing a savings‑heavy, investment‑concentrated credit union with low member borrowing and minimal delinquency brings both challenges and opportunities. The President/CEO will have the skillset to confidently partner with the leadership team to evaluate financial performance, manage interest rate and liquidity risk, and ensure regulatory compliance. This will lead to strategic decisions that protect the credit union's long‑term financial strength while positioning it for sustainable growth.

A focus on the future will ensure highly secure and frictionless digital access to increase our ability to serve the membership across the country.

While strategic leadership is essential, this is a hands‑on executive role. The successful candidate will be an engaged operator who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working alongside the leadership team, solving problems, making timely decisions, and remaining closely connected to the day‑to‑day business of the credit union. This is a CEO who leads from the front while empowering others to succeed.

How Will We Grow Together?

Aerospace Federal Credit Union serves a highly educated and financially sophisticated membership. The next President/CEO will appreciate these unique member characteristics and understand that earning a member's primary financial relationship requires more than simply offering products: It requires delivering value, expertise, trust, and an exceptional member experience.

As the organization prepares for a well‑planned leadership transition, the incoming President/CEO will learn from the outgoing executive while establishing their own vision and leadership style. This unique transition period provides an exceptional foundation for long‑term success.

Successful candidates will bring a minimum of 7–10 years of progressive executive leadership experience within a credit union (ideally) or community bank, along with a demonstrated record of strategic planning, financial stewardship, balance sheet management, regulatory compliance, organizational leadership, and Board engagement. A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree, CPA, CFA, or executive‑level certifications are preferred.

If you're excited by the opportunity to lead a respected financial institution, build upon a strong legacy, preserve an extraordinary culture, and shape the future of an organization dedicated to serving one of the country's most unique memberships, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you.

The salary range for this position is $320,000–$410,000 annually, with a target starting salary of approximately $360,000.
