Corporate Quality Assurance Manager
Position Summary:
The Corporate Quality Assurance Manager leads and supports the development and implementation of effective quality assurance policies, procedures and systems that align with customer and employee owner expectations. Additionally, the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager will provide direction and oversight for regulatory, compliance, and quality assurance activities.

From the wheels of NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover to mission critical components for nuclear submarines, to large hydraulic cylinders for the largest mining trucks on the planet, Scot Forge creates precision forged metal parts used in demanding applications all over the world.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
  • Promote the Use of Quality Tools: be an advocate for the use of core quality tools and processes throughout the organization to drive improvement in Quality performance
  • QMS Management Representative: Coordinate QMS activities with registrar and governing bodies regarding our quality system. Coordinate change management of quality system activities, assuring the system meet requirements
  • Manager Specific Activities and Functions:directs and coordinates the activities of teams engaged in quality functions including; Inspection Supervision, Scot Forge Quality Management System, Certification and Regulatory Compliance; Shop Floor Quality, and overall customer contract compliance.
    • Directs the functional resources related to product quality, industry and customer specific quality systems, customer contract compliance and Inspection activities.
    • Directs activities that ensures compliance with the customer requirements, quality policy, company standards, regulatory and external standards
    • Improve processes and provide oversight to Scot Forge Supplier Quality Program and to Scot Forge Auditing Program
    • Development of direct reports.
  • Internal Auditing Oversight (AS, ISO Nuclear): Facilitate and oversee internal auditing: develop annual plan, Lead Auditor (ISO), participate in internal audits closing meetings, communicate nonconformities to appropriate parties, and maintain all Audit records. Re-qualifying internal auditors on a set frequency - auditor development. Annual review and validation of internal auditing procedures and established systems
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: effectively interact with production, sales and engineering teams to ensure that appropriate quality resources are allocated to meet customer expectations.
  • Quality Metrics: maintain internal quality performance metrics that are aligned with customer expectations.
  • Quality Training Needs: assist Scot Forge to identify company level training needs for quality.
  • Specific Process Ownership:responsible for implementation and maintenance of internal quality systems that support our business, including, but not limited to:
    • Lead and Support Certification/Compliance Review Team and Processes
    • Company Certified Material Test reports
    • Potential Escape Point Analysis (PEPA) and Letters of Advisement Processes
  • Customer Communication: represent Scot Forge as we effectively communicate with customers and 3rd party auditors regarding specification requirements, manufacturing and process capabilities, and questions / complaints related to quality systems, product, processes or documentation.
  • Roll-out customer requirements: oversee the development of policies, systems and procedures as they relate to quality to ensure product conformance. Communicate and provide training to personnel regarding execution of procedures and interpretation of specifications/drawings as they apply to the technical manufacturing, testing and inspection requirements invoked by customers.
  • External Auditor Host / witness: support 2nd and 3rd party external audits and customer witnesses and their review of Scot Forge Quality System processes, providing supporting information and activities to facilitate a successful audit / witness.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Metallurgy (or equivalent).
  • Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years quality assurance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt with multiple projects completed. Qualified Lead Auditor in quality systems such as ISO 9001:2008 or AS9100. Experience in the metals industry and/or metallurgy knowledge preferred.

Desired Skills:
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively develop and train professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Proficient in writing clear and concise procedures.
  • System leadership or auditor exposure to "high specification" quality systems (military, nuclear, aerospace)
  • FMEA and Control Plans, 8-D structured problem solving.
  • APQP, 6S and lean tools, value stream mapping (VSM), TPM, and root cause analysis, statistics, GD&T.

Additional Information:
  • Scot Forge requires all employees to work 100% onsite.
  • This position is primarily located in our Spring Grove, IL facility with occasional travel to plants in other locations as required (Franklin Park, IL and Clinton, WI).
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Position requires a mixture of working in office and occasionally working in production areas while forklifts, overhead cranes and related equipment are in use. On occasion while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to heat and cold weather conditions as well as wet and/or humid conditions. Production environment may expose individual to excessive loud noise. When in the area of production, appropriate PPE is mandatory.

The estimated pay range for this position is the lowest and highest range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The actual pay offered to a candidate will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, geographic location and prevailing minimum wage, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
