Job description

Your responsibilities
The Forging Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing forging equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and safety. This role focuses on mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, including robotics and PLC-controlled equipment. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in industrial maintenance within a forging or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on forging equipment such as presses, hammers, furnaces, and material handling systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on forging machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
  • Maintain and support industrial robotics used in forging processes, including programming adjustments and fault recovery.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting including motors, drives, sensors, wiring, and control systems.
  • Ensure all equipment operates safely and complies with company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Install, modify, and upgrade equipment as needed to support production improvements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation.

Your profile
  • Proven experience in maintenance of forging or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and basic programming.
  • Experience working with industrial robotics systems (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, etc.).
  • Solid electrical troubleshooting skills (AC/DC systems, controls, drives, sensors).
  • Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, overtime, and respond to emergency breakdowns.
  • No college degree required.
  • Technical training, certifications, or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in forging, manufacturing, or heavy industrial maintenance strongly preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in high-temperature, high-noise forging environments.
  • Experience with servo systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as OSHA lockout/tagout procedures.
