JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as subject matter expert for assigned regions of the country for technical, food safety, and quality assurance related areas including regulatory compliance, product development and implementation, supplier and facility approvals, and in-store procedures and execution as it relates to quality, food safety, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Candidate must reside in either Florida or South Carolina area and be commutable to the territory they support.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facility Auditing and/or Quality Visits to third party or owned commissary, bakeries and distribution centers to assess food safety and food production for process controls and compliance to specification and/or for initial vendor and plant approvals. Will involve use of standardized forms but can include counseling, assistance in developing corrective actions and timelines. May require follow-up visits to assess/track progress.

  • Product evaluations for compliance to specification through surveillance/cuttings and/or complaint investigations for fresh food, beverage, or private brand suppliers and others as requested.

  • Quality and food safety material development or review through creation/development of standards, spec training, or specific tools to support quality knowledge and assessments.

  • Store food safety and regulatory support and compliance (key contact/liaison for assigned area) as it relates to food safety controls, equipment, regulatory issues/inquiries, recalls, non-compliance issues/citations, local HACCP or OSHA issues, permitting assistance for remodels/new store construction.

  • FSQA (Food Safety Quality Assurance) Training SME (Subject Matter Expert) for differing audiences such as Operations, Merchandising, Store Leaders, etc. and for major events such as 7-Eleven University.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: Bachelors/4 Yr. Degree

YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 1+ years

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Registered Sanitarian, Certified Professional of Food Safety or similar certifications; degree preferred in Food Science, Environmental Science, Biology, or similar.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Thorough understanding of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, SOPs, Food Defense, Auditing Principles, FDA and USDA regulations

  • Strong counseling, facilitation, training, and modeling skills; self-confident and able to speak one on one or before larger groups

  • Strong communication and analytical skills, attention to detail for technical reports
