Job description

Overview:

The Production Planner is responsible for managing production schedules, ERP execution, and inventory flow in a fast-paced processing environment. This role ensures daily production plans are accurate, achievable, and aligned with business needs.

Working closely with production, warehouse, and supply chain teams, the planner drives execution on the floor, maintains system accuracy, and supports the shift from a reactive to a more structured, forecast-driven operation.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

ERP & Master Data (Items, BOMs, Accuracy)

  • Own all item setup and maintenance in Dynamics 365 F&O
  • Build and maintain formulas (BOMs) that reflect actual production yields and processes
  • Continuously adjust BOMs based on: Yield performance, Trim loss and shrink, Production feedback
  • Ensure accuracy across: Units of measure, Catch weights, Variable yields
  • Regularly audit item master and BOM data to ensure the system matches what is happening on the floor

Production Planning & Daily Execution Targets

  • Build and own daily and weekly production plans
  • Set clear daily targets for: Volume, Yield expectations, and Throughput
  • Ensure plans are realistic and executable based on labor availability, Equipment capacity, and Space constraints
  • The production team executes against your plan - you are accountable for the plan being right

Capacity, Labor & Space Planning

  • Ensure total planned volume stays within operational capacity
  • Factors in labor availability and crew sizing, Line capacity and bottlenecks, Storage and staging space
  • Own visibility into raw material slotting and storage constraints
  • Adjust plans proactively to avoid congestion, inefficiency, or missed production

Inventory, Freshness & Shrink Ownership

  • Build and manage par levels (min/max) by SKU
  • Ensure product does not sit beyond freshness targets (goal: <3 days on hand)
  • Actively manage Aging inventory, Overstock risk, Stockouts
  • Own visibility into planned vs actual yield and shrink, and drive improvements

Supply Chain Alignment & Forward Planning

  • Look ahead at least 1 week on raw materials and production needs
  • Identify supply risks early and adjust production plans accordingly
  • Generate purchase recommendations and push on gaps: Short inventory, Late or at-risk deliveries
  • Partner closely with purchasing to avoid both: Stockouts, Overbuying and excess shrink

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the central point between Sales (demand), Production (execution), Warehouse (inventory & space) and Purchasing (supply)
  • Communicate priorities, risks, and changes clearly
  • Drive alignment across teams so execution matches the plan

Food Safety & Traceability Alignment

  • Ensure production plans align with HACCP requirements, Traceability standards, Lot control processes (as they evolve)
  • Support the development of stronger traceability and inventory tracking over time

Continuous Improvement

  • Reduce reliance on make-to-order production (target: <50 SKUs/week)
  • Improve Schedule adherence, Yield accuracy, Inventory turns
  • Identify and fix breakdowns in planning, inventory flow, production execution

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations
  • Strong ERP experience (Dynamics 365 preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with BOMs / formulas, Inventory and production planning
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, perishable environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong ownership mindset

Physical Abilities:

  • Occasional lifting and moving weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing or walking for long periods of time, up to 8 hours
  • Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching and kneeling
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Work Environment:

  • Golden Meat Warehouse (Onsite)
  • Cold environment with temperatures averaging between 36 - 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Fast-paced meat packing facility
