Job description

Self Serve Lumber has been in the lumber industry since 1953 and is now in its fourth generation of being a family run business. We are the convenient, local alternative to the big box home stores, open seven days a week with our convenient drive-thru lumber yard. With over 18 stores across Michigan, we are always looking for great talent to help expand our team. Apply today!

Location: St. Johns, MI

Pay: $18.50 per hour or more depending on experience

Additional compensation: Milage pay & overtime pay

Shift: Day Shift

Reports To: Operations

Summary: The Floating Store Manager is responsible for assisting with managing and directing retail store operations at various store locations when covering for other store managers. This positions base of operations is in St. Johns but may be asked to cover other stores at any given time within a 40-45miles radius. Responsibilities can include, but is not limited to, managing promotional merchandising programs, tracking and managing inventory, assisting with managing and training counter personnel and ensuring that customer service is met with a professional, courteous and timely manner to all our customers, along with other day to day operations.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning, development, and implementation of effective sales and marketing programs for the retail store
  • Effectively implement merchandise promotions and sales strategies
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of retail store functions
  • Assist in supervision of sales personnel, ensuring optimal performance
  • Establish and maintaining good business relations with customers and professional contacts
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one or more years of experience in a supervisory position or related retail sales position
  • Being able to travel is a must!
  • Knowledge of the lumber/hardware industry is a plus
  • Familiarity with retail sales, merchandising programs and procedures
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong public relations and people skills
  • Excellent sales abilities and customer service
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up-to 10lbs. frequently and/or up to 50lbs. occasionally
  • Indoor and Outdoor Customer Assistance in inclement weather at times
  • Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
