Job description

Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview:

MP Materials is seeking a dynamic and technically skilled Senior Manager, Financial Systems to lead the strategic development, optimization, and administration of our financial systems landscape, including, but not limited to, SAP S/4HANA, OneStream, and BlackLine. This role is critical to scaling our financial operations as we expand manufacturing capabilities and global operations.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance Transformation & Systems, the Senior Manager will serve as the bridge between Finance and IT—owning key systems, managing financial data flows, and driving process automation across accounting, reporting, planning, and analytics functions. The ideal candidate will combine deep financial acumen, system implementation experience, and a passion for solving problems with scalable, technology-driven solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration, enhancement, and governance of financial systems including SAP S/4HANA, OneStream, BlackLine, and other systems and related tools.
  • Act as primary liaison between Finance, IT, and external vendors to manage system changes, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades.
  • Identify and drive automation opportunities in core finance and accounting processes.
  • Lead system and process enhancements and support major projects such as ERP implementations, module expansions, and integrations across systems.
  • Develop and maintain robust documentation of business processes, configuration decisions, and control procedures.
  • Train finance users on systems functionality and best practices; serve as a subject matter expert on data structures and reporting logic.
  • Lead master data governance across finance-related domains, establishing policies, workflows, controls, and stewardship to improve data quality and standardization.
  • Support external audits, SOX compliance, and internal control testing related to financial systems.
  • Monitor and enforce user access, change control, and segregation of duties across systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial systems management, financial transformation, or accounting systems administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA (FI/CO and related modules) and OneStream (or similar CPM tools such as Hyperion, Tagetik).
  • Demonstrated success leading finance system implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.

Desired Qualities:

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Public company experience in manufacturing, energy, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience implementing financial automation tools (e.g., BlackLine, Coupa, FloQast).
  • Deep understanding of accounting workflows, month-end close, and consolidation/reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, reporting cubes, and financial master data governance.
  • Proactive, hands-on leader with a track record of delivering practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
