FACULTY POSITION IN MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES
Searching at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Actuarial Science/Statistics, Math Education, Pure or Applied

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at IUPUI invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in actuarial science (statistics or statistics/probability with experience in actuarial science, financial mathematics, or related fields), mathematics education, pure or applied mathematics to begin on or before August 1, 2024. Responsibilities include teaching six courses over the first two years, with at least one course each term, and then four courses a year regularly, maintaining a strong research program, publishing the results of research, and the customary student advising and departmental and university service. The Department has a strong research faculty, many funded research projects and close collaboration with other departments within the School of Science and the IU School of Medicine.
As one of the largest academic units on campus serving more than 13,000 students each year, the Department is central to the mission of IUPUI to advance the State of Indiana and the intellectual growth of its citizens to the highest levels. The appointment is intended to strengthen both research and our graduate programs, and enhance our undergraduate programs (actuarial sciences, mathematics education, pure, applied, and statistics). Current areas of research strength in the Department include mathematical physics and integrable systems, dynamical systems, operator algebras and non-commutative geometry, differential equations/geometry, mathematical neuroscience and biomathematics, scientific computing, statistics, and mathematics education.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate (at the time of appointment) in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related areas, a strong research program, and the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants at the Associate Professor rank will be expected to show an excellent track record of publications, evidence of the ability to engage in independent and/or collaborative (inter)disciplinary research, and existing funding or a high potential for receiving funding from the NSF, NIH or other top tier agencies or organizations. The successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program.
