About the role - Manager, Financial Controlling (37862)

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Manager - Financial Controlling within the Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals team.

This position manages the financial accounting function for the Specialty Mining Chemicals group, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and Orica's financial controls and standards and ensuring statutory and tax reporting compliance

What you will be doing
  • Prepares business unit financial statements - business unit B/S, P&L, Cash Flow. Consolidate financial statements
  • Ensures allocated month end processes and procedures are performed in a timely and accurate manner 
  • Ensures all transactions are appropriately recorded, the financial information reported has integrity and consistently complies with Orica's accounting policies
  • Manages the General Ledger including month end close, review and reconciliation  
  • Super user of Infor M3 ERP
  • Participates in internal and external audits
  • Acts as contact for External auditing requirements and ensure Audit packs are complete and accurate
  • Ensures appropriate internal controls are embedded in any process/system developed in relevant ledgers
  • Manages the bi-annual assurance process including Balance Sheet review and Letter of Assurance
  • Maintains robust Intercompany Accounting processes include reconciliation and follow up (via GBS if applicable  
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, receivable and banking processes 
  • Supports finance projects, cost savings initiatives or benefits programs, or ad hoc tasks as directed 
  • Provides finance support to group or support functions as required 
  • Drives timely and accurate completion of region / group quarterly/annual filings and shareholder reports 
  • Prepares legal entity statutory accounts and Investor Relations reporting
  • Manage the tax compliance process for Cyanco entities and the information provided to the Orica Tax Group
  • Co-ordinates improvement initiatives to the Business balance sheet (capital efficiency & TWC optimisation)
  • Manage the annual insurance renewal process
What you will bring
  • Minimum 8 years of experience post professional qualification, including 5 years of direct people management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Professional accounting qualification (i.e. CPA or CMA)
  • Relevant experience in financial controlling, statutory and tax accounting roles, preferably in large companies
  • Proven ability to lead a team, including building a collaborative approach in the development of the direction and operations of the workstream
  • Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives would be desirable
  • Demonstrated skills associated with building strong vendor &/or customer relationships
  • Financial acumen & budgeting experience
  • Experience with Infor M3 ERP a plus
Role dimensions
  • Manage a team of 2 direct reports and 1 indirect report
  • This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring three (3) days per week onsite at our Centennial, Colorado office.

Compensation Range  

  • Between $118,275 and $140,000  
  • Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
