Job description

The Safety & Training Clerk position is full-time; 40 hours/week, 

Monday through Friday


Major Drilling is looking for a self-motivated and organized Safety and Training Clerk for our office in Salt Lake City. The successful candidate must have a professional appearance, a positive attitude, be dependable, and eager to learn. 


Primary Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

Maintain and update training documentation, asset/equipment tracking, and run reports to track training and annual requirements as needed in our EHS management system.

Maintain hard copy filing of gathered personal and training-related information and add to Intelex.

Complete and review Motor Vehicle Reports for New Hires and annually, use other references to determine employees’ driver status and ability to drive company vehicles, and maintain Driver File Tracking spreadsheet. 

Maintain CDL/DOT files and ensure compliance with current state and federal regulations, including sending and completing previous employer requests, Clearinghouse queries annually, and New Hires.

Track field employees’ job assignment potential, job-specific payroll, and unemployment purposes in Intelex, keeping it updated for the weekly People List.

Responsible for assisting field team with Intelex, including troubleshooting, password reset, unlocking accounts, and sending instructions as requested.

Setup and troubleshoot company tablets for field users

Inform managers of retraining requirements for their employees, upcoming requirement updates needed to maintain current employee driver status, and update Intelex when there is a change in driver status.

Create Rig Binders using pre-start information for emergency response plan with directions, map, updated crew training documents, and SWP for the rig. Send out to the field with other required binders and work area examination books.

Maintain confidentiality related to safety, health, and Workers‘ Compensation issues.

Arrange in-house and external training activities.

Provide administrative support for department personnel.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Show willingness to assist with miscellaneous projects as needed. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Excellent attention to detail; and 
  • Ability to multi-task.
