The Admitting Clerk role can float across departments across outpatient hospital and the emergency department. They will have the opportunity to also cross train in other areas of patient financial services. How you'll contribute
An Admitting Clerk who excels in this role:
  • Performs admitting/registration functions such as electronic filing, entering patient data, verifying insurance, and collecting upfront cash while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepares statistical reports and maintains department metrics,
  • Greets visitors and communicates with patients and providers.
  • Places, answers, and directs phone calls and distributes messages.
  • Handles information requests, including reviewing files and records, answering inquiries, and responding to incoming work requests.
  • Controls basic accounting functions such as providing daily payment log/journal to cashier for reconciliation.

  • 1-2 years of general healthcare admitting experience preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a high stress environment and take appropriate action while offering excellent customer service to our patients.

Schedule: This Admitting Clerk position is a Part Time, Benefited opportunity, offering 48 hours per pay period. The admitting clerk covers various hospital departments and emergency department registration. It may offer rotating shifts, weekends and may work overnight. Shift lengths are typically 7-10 hours, although there may also be the opportunity for 12-hour shifts.
