Job description

Position: Fabric Cutter
Type: Full-time 4 day work week (32 hours per week)
Starting Wage: $21/hour

On-the-job training is provided for the right candidates
Purpose: To embody and share the brand, values, and vision of Melanzana. The cutting department interfaces with the sewing and quality control department. Fabric is cut according to Melanzana specifications and standards of quality. Fabric is cut based on the Production Planning Timeline and what is currently needed for APATT (all products all the time).
Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate industrial equipment for cutting fabric; always wearing appropriate protective gear provided by the company
  • Inspect fabric for flaws and skew while rolling out
  • Operate the ink cup printing machine for merino products
  • Re-cut defective pieces, marked while rolling out
  • Make suggestions on dealing with less-than-optimal fabric based on current supply
  • Constantly improve skills, efficiency, and knowledge of procedures for all fabric types
  • Help other fabric cutters, sharing techniques to improve skills of the whole team

Other Responsibilities
  • Basic machine maintenance
  • Maintain & clean cutting area and tools as needed
  • Attend "All Staff" employee meetings and other scheduled department meetings
  • Help maintain fabric inventory and keep it organized
  • Assist with all fabric deliveries and movement of fabric

Requirements
  • Ability to stay focused, in a busy manufacturing environment
  • High level of attention to detail and quality
  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a professional manner
  • Ability to communicate within the departmental team and with sewers as needed, in a clear and professional manner
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to pick up 65lb fabric rolls on a regular basis
