Extend is building a modern document processing cloud. We're on a mission to transform how the world works with unstructured data.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Extend, you'll act as the primary interface between customers and Extend at all stages of the customer lifecycle. We're looking to hire engineers who obsess over customer pain, relentlessly focus on the details, operate with high agency, and want to empower organizations with AI.

We're a lean team, and our customer base is growing too fast for us to keep up. We're looking for talented engineers to join our team and execute on an ambitious roadmap.
Impact
Ensuring our customers can successfully deploy LLMs into production is critical, and comes with never before seen challenges. We need to make sure we're world class at this.
Here's a few of the complex challenges you'll solve:
  • Enable enterprises to gain confidence in deploying AI
  • Build solutions to handle never before seen edge cases in customer data
  • Inspire non-technical domain experts to take ownership over LLM-based extraction instructions
  • Architect the ideal evaluation experience for customers to create champions and advocates
  • Help customers understand tradeoffs between latency, cost, and performance, and make the best decision for their use case
Role
  • Design and architect solutions to solve complex customer problems using Extend as the primary tool
  • Write the playbook for how we should work with customers, and how we should incorporate feedback and learnings across the team.
  • Build genuine relationships with our end users. You'll need to figure out what problems other teams are experiencing, and naturally grow Extend within an organization. You'll have the ability to travel onsite as needed
  • Act as the primary technical interface for customers evaluating and running POCs with Extend
  • Inspire confidence with technical champions by answering deep technical questions (API architecture, security, parsing mechanisms, on-prem deployments) and addressing requirements before they become blockers
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly when customers encounter problems with schemas, prompts, and processor configurations
  • Give compelling product demos that translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand value propositions
  • Run and manage POCs from planning through execution, ensuring prospects hit their success criteria
  • Have complete ownership over the work you do - as a founding team member, you'll work directly with the CEO, CTO, and others to truly own large areas of customer success and have direct relationships with large enterprises
