Compass Forwarding is a full-service international transportation and logistics company specializing in customized logistics solutions for over 60 years. We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Air Export Specialist to join our operations team in Addison, Illinois.

Position Overview

The Air Export Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and processing international air export shipments from start to finish. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in freight forwarding operations and CargoWise.

This is a hands-on operational role within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment. Accuracy, follow-through, and strong communication skills are critical to success in this position.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate international air export shipments from booking through final delivery.

  • Prepare and review export documentation including air waybills, commercial invoices, AES filings, and related shipping documents.

  • Ensure all shipments are processed accurately and in compliance with customer requirements, TSA regulations, airline procedures, and international shipping standards.

  • Track and monitor shipments while proactively identifying and resolving operational issues.

  • Communicate with customers, airlines, overseas agents, truckers, and internal departments regarding shipment status and operational updates.

  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment data within CargoWise.

  • Assist with routing, operational support, and shipment coordination as needed.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date shipment files and records.

  • Support the operations team in maintaining high service standards and operational efficiency.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in air export operations within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.

  • Strong working knowledge of air freight procedures and export documentation.

  • Direct freight forwarding experience is required.

  • Hands-on CargoWise experience is strongly preferred and candidates with CargoWise experience will be prioritized.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • IATA and/or Hazmat certification is a plus.

  • This is an on-site position. Please do not apply if you are not able to commute to Addison, Illinois.
