Job description

At Streimer., we are a company of problem solvers, committed to be the answer to our customer's needs. Founded more than seventy-five years ago, we are a premier supplier of sheet metal products, systems, and services. A critical position in this organization is the Project Manager role in our Operations group. This position is primarily responsible for managing construction projects using available software packages, entering orders for production, and serving as a liaison between customers and the field team to ensure successful execution of projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Provide estimating and project management support for the fabrication of HVAC duct and fittings.
  • Provide support in estimating general fabrication of sheet metal products
  • Utilize Quote Express software to estimate HVAC jobs.
  • Utilize knowledge of HVAC products to recommend solutions for our customers.
  • Use software tools to streamline and improve existing processes.
  • Work in a team atmosphere with Fabrication, Purchasing, and Shipping to satisfy our customers and provide solutions to their problems.
  • Follow up with potential customers to pursue open bids.
  • Be a customer advocate for fabrication work.
  • Be able to read and interpret project specifications and drawings.
  • Lead the construction efforts on assigned projects - includes take-offs/quantity surveys, estimate generation, accurate qualifications/assumptions, design/meetings attendance, constructability reviews, document coordination reviews, and project schedule monitoring.
  • Assist PM's and other estimating department personnel on construction efforts as assigned.
  • Lead and/or assist lump sum bid efforts for Lewis.
  • Educate PM's, PE's and estimating new hires in the systems within Streimer for budgeting & bidding of work and for construction efforts.
  • Estimating to Job Cost interface, Forefront upgrades, mobile device options, 3D, and 4D / BIM, etc.
  • Follow ongoing projects to understand and analyze the labor productivity and to become familiar with any issues that could be resolved by doing something different during construction the next time.
  • Pursue potential new project prospects and work with the Streimer Account Executive team in developing the appropriate strategy for winning new work.
  • Review and respond to assigned RFP's.
  • The construction group actively supports project teams. It is important that Project Managers are active participants in company and department team building activities.
  • Demonstrates Leadership qualities in business decisions as it relates to team communication.
  • Partners with Account Executives for successful bid/budget turn over. This involves making themselves available for real time interface with the project team to ensure a complete and understandable transfer of the estimate.
  • Pays attention to and is in tune with the marketplace.
  • Seeks out and welcomes the input of the project team.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with Account Executive and VP of Operations, or review and negotiate contract terms for new work for the VP of Operations signature.
  • Maintain a self-directed education program in conjunction with the in-house education opportunities offered by Streimer and those found outside Streimer which fit with own goals.
  • Take the departmental lead in understanding and memorializing the development process.
  • Oversee all aspects of project progression and execution to meet the cost, schedule, and performance goals.
  • Create a collaborative team environment fostering company values and engagement.
  • Oversee and support Project Engineers, Project Superintendents, and Project Foreman; and train and mentor project engineers to support professional development to project management positions.
  • Oversee and execute project estimation and change orders; and manage project costs and overhead to ensure profit goals are achieved.
  • Oversee and/or execute the development of project submittals, closeout documents, and project commissioning.
  • Interface with general contractor project executives and project owners.
  • Review and understand upstream contracts to owner/general contractor, and downstream contracts to venders and subcontractors to manage risks and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Strong Customer Service focus.

Background in HVAC manufacturing or installation and familiarity with HVAC products desired.

      • Background in Construction and Project Management
      • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
      • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication methods and materials.
      • Ability to work independently under general supervision.
      • Ability and motivation to negotiate to a "win-win" outcome with our customers.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Minimum 05 years relevant and verifiable experience; full mechanical contracting expertise, with solid experience on wet side mechanical/plumbing project management.
      • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including a union work environment.
      • Highly collaborative with a successful track record of building and maintaining internal and external relationships.
      • Experience with design assist/design build projects.
      • Experience in project management of large, complex contracts ($10M+).
      • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
      • Experience work with BIM projects with pre-fabrication plan.
      • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
      • Takes initiative, is self-directed, and works well with minimal supervision.
      • Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to assist other project managers as needed.
      • Ability to identify, assess and manage risks; and develop controls to mitigate risks and optimize operations.
      • Experience with selling projects and services to owners and general contractors.


The ideal candidate will have experience in construction estimating and/or the mechanical construction industry. Related work experience required or college degree, preferably Construction Engineering Management, Business Administration, or Mechanical Engineering.
