Job description

Process Documentation Consultant

Location: Hybrid (3–4 days onsite) — Arvada/Denver Metro, CO
Type: Temporary Assignment (through end of 2026, current plan)
Compensation: $40–$55/hour (DOE)
Start Date: ASAP

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting for a client in the Automation Machinery Manufacturing equipment industry who's in need of a Process Documentation Consultant to join their team on a temporary basis through the remainder of 2026. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role reporting directly to the CEO, focused specifically on optimizing workflows within the Sales and Accounting departments.

Position Summary

The Process Documentation Consultant will audit, define, and optimize operational workflows across Sales and Accounting by bridging the gap between "how things are done" and "how they should be done." This involves conducting stakeholder interviews, building visual process maps, and drafting comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that reduce friction, close compliance gaps, and improve accuracy between systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews with Sales Representatives and Accounting staff to capture current "as-is" workflows
  • Create high-level and granular flowcharts using Lucidchart, Visio, or Miro
  • Identify bottlenecks, manual redundancies, and communication gaps between Sales and Accounting systems
  • Draft clear, step-by-step SOPs covering:
    • Sales: lead-to-quote, contract approval, opportunity management
    • Accounting: quote-to-cash, accounts receivable, expense reporting, month-end close
  • Ensure all documentation follows a consistent brand voice and technical format
  • Conduct gap analysis comparing current processes to industry best practices and internal compliance requirements
  • Integrate "check and balance" controls to reduce financial errors and data entry discrepancies

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in business process improvement (BPI), technical writing, or operations
  • Strong understanding of the sales funnel and General Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • High proficiency in Salesforce (CRM) and SAP (ERP), with specific experience at the integration points between the two platforms
  • Proficiency with process mapping tools: Lucidchart, Visio, or Miro
  • Ability to translate complex technical actions into simple, readable prose for end-users
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interviewing stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or automation/equipment environments
  • Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Prior consulting or contract-based project experience
  • Experience building documentation frameworks from scratch

Work Arrangement

Hybrid, 3–4 days onsite per week. Local Denver Metro candidates strongly preferred.
