Job Summary
General Description:
The University Residences Graduate Assistant for the Executive in Residence Program will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs geared towards students living in University Residences, particularly in conjunction the Executive in Residence Program. This position requires ongoing collaboration with University Residences staff and plays a critical role in ensuring that engagement, recruitment, and retention goals for potential and current students are met.

  • Ability to work with different computer programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Responsibilities for one or more of the following functional areas:
  • Conduct outreach to students living on campus.
  • Conduct outreach to partnering organizations or academic departments on campus.
  • Shape the culture of the Executive in Residence Learning Community by coordinating and implementing group communication, social, and educational programs paired with Executives' visits.
  • Identify, utilize, and connect students to University resources.
  • Serve as the logistic lead for the Executive in Residence Student Ambassador program.
  • Serve an integral role in co-supervising Executive in Residence Lead Ambassadors.
  • Meet with students within the Executive in Residence Learning Community regularly throughout the semester.
  • Support South Hall Learning Communities initiatives, including Data Mine and Science Innovation, and have the opportunity to participate in regular meetings and leadership planning.
  • Develop and support the storytelling of the Executive in Residence experience through curating media in photo, video, and participant testimonial.
  • Support travel, lodging, and hospitality arrangements for visiting executives, ensuring a seamless and professional experience.
  • Assist and support in the logistic planning and execution of the Executive in Residence Spring Break Trip.
  • Provide on-site support during event: attendee check-in, room setup, AV support, troubleshooting, and liaison responsibilities.
  • Be willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Assist with other University Residences initiatives and programs.
  • Represent the Executive-in-Residence program with professionalism, discretion, and hospitality, reflecting the values of Purdue University and of University Residences.

Time Commitment
The University Residences Graduate Assistant position requires 20 hours of work per week-approximately 2-5 hours of which will occur outside normal business hours and will consist of in-hall programming and other Res. Life/RAI related duties.
Work will be completed during regular business hours, evenings, and weekends.
This position will regularly attend, host, and assist with programs and events occurring after regular business hours and on weekends.
Work schedule must be previously negotiated and approved by supervisor.
Residence Life non-negotiable dates: all employees of University Residences will be required to work during established time periods throughout the school year in order to assist in all University functions. These include but are not limited to:
Student Staff Training:
Residence Education Assistant Training beginning August 3, 2026
Resident Assistant Training Beginning August 10, 2026
Boiler Gold Rush and Boiler Gold Rush International Residence Hall Move-ins:
August 15 - August 23, 2026
Residence Hall Winter Move-outs:

GA Provisions
Graduate Assistantship Provisions:
The assistantship is contingent upon you meeting all the admission requirements of the department/program and Graduate School. In order to continue the assistantship, you must maintain satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory teaching/research/administrative/professional work performance as well as pass a background check.
The assistantship pay rate is $26.92 per hour for 20 hours per week and you will be paid bi-weekly. If approved by your academic area, this assistantship will cover tuition remission of all but a portion of fees. The dates of your appointment are August 13, 2026 through May 16, 2027.
Because of the nature of this unique student-facing position and after-hours responsibilities, you will be provided with a University Residences apartment and meal plan.
Since your appointment is half-time or more for at least a semester, you will be eligible for participation in the University Graduate Student Staff Health Plan. You may also enroll your spouse and dependents in the plan within 30 days of your hire date by completing one of two enrollment steps. Instructions will be emailed to you once your employment has been entered into the SuccessFactors system AND you have a valid Social Security Number on file. Domestic students wishing to waive participation in this plan should still view the other benefits available, buy no opt out is required. Purdue Insurance is mandatory for International students; therefore international graduate students wishing to waive participation must meet with criteria and complete the online waiver request. U.S. citizens or resident aliens:
This offer is contingent upon submitting proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Purdue University utilizes an online onboarding system through which you will complete new hire electronic documents, including the electronic Section 1 of Page 1 of 2 the USCIS Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Section 1 must be completed no later than your start date. A Welcome email will be sent to you from Purdue HR and will contain the link and information needed to log into your employee dashboard where you will complete your electronic documents. Section 2 of the electronic I-9 must be completed no later than the 3rd business day after your start date and requires you to physically present original and unexpired document(s) from the List of Acceptable Documents in person to a predetermined location on campus.
International Students entering from foreign countries:
You should not apply for your visa or make travel plans until you receive a formal letter of admission from the dean of the Graduate School and your Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019) from the Office of International Students and Scholars at Purdue University. These papers will be sent to you as soon as all admission procedures are completed, admission conditions are met, and you have shown proof of sufficient financial resources to attend Purdue. International Students entering from within the U.S.: If you are transferring to Purdue University from another educational institution in the U.S., certain transfer procedures must be completed before you come to Purdue. After all admission procedures are completed, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019), issued by the Office of International Students and Scholars at Purdue. If you are on a J-1 visa, take the DS-2019 that was issued by Purdue to the international student services office at your current educational institution to obtain the necessary transfer approval from that institution. To complete the transfer, upon your arrival at Purdue, bring your passport, I-94 card or printed electronic record of admission from www.cbp.gov/i94, and the DS-2019 showing transfer. If you are on an F-1 visa, as soon as you arrive at Purdue, bring your I-20 that was issued by Purdue, previous I-20, passport, I-94 card, or printed electronic record of admission from www.cbp.gov/i94, and the international student transfer form to the Office of International Students and Scholars. That office then will process your F-1 transfer to Purdue.
